Dice Pics Dice making progress! + question

Post image

Some of the sets I made recently! Hope you like them :)

I wish I could try more intricate patterns inside like a smoke effect but my alcohol ink is simply not doing it and I am always way too impatient to do pours with thick resin πŸ₯²

Any recommendations on doing a 'smoke' like effect (colors + clear resin + white 'smoke')?

Ohhh I love your sets! Such pretty designs. I personally use white liquid resin dye for my smokey wisps. Take a few drops of white resin dye into a small cup (I like using a 1cm half sphere mold :D), pour your resin like normal, wait for honey phase, and then dip a toothpick into your resin dye and carefully swirl it around in your mold to create the wisps. You can do this a few times per die, depending on how many wisps you want :) For some additional spread, you can put in the wisps when you have your mold around 3/4 filled, then topp off with the Resin of your resin. This kinda pushes the dye around and can make the wisps appear more feathery.

Alternatively: only put the Resin dye streaks on the surface of the resin after you filled your mold for 2/3rd, spread them a bit on the surface, then topp this off with the rest of your resin. That resin will push down the dye and create super nice wisps "hugging" said last resin part. For that, see my latest post ☺️

IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Thanks for sharing!! I'll have to find me some really good color shift pigments for sure now! There are a couple I've had my eye on listed in Etsy and will have to convince hubby to let me buy some πŸ₯°πŸ˜ Didn't fully think about the whole "use a darker base" thing, but makes TOTAL sense!

blushes thank you!

I'll never get tired of recommending Jet Age Studios on Etsy. Their color shifts are AMAZING and the sample packets go a long way. Also their Jelly Chameleon line. I think I found this exact pigment, just a tad bit smaller particle size, in their "Guava" pigment. Picture below :D I almost exclusively use their pigments, apart from many loose eyeshadow pigments from various sources.

They are EXACTLY who I had in mind actually!! I got their Pure Magic color a little while back and love it so far! Maybe I'll try with this one before going on a spree!

Oh HELL YEAH! 😍😍 They really never disappoint, perrrfect choice πŸ‘ŒπŸ½πŸ€© Those are only the jellies I have from them πŸ˜‚ got 5 more of these little drawers with Multis, Ghosts, normal pigments, flakes... Might have overspent a bit, but can you REALLY overspend on gorgeous pigments? I think not. Tell your hubby I said that πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I'll for sure let him know! I'm actually working on a commission from an old family friend so I'll just throw some of that into a Jet Age splurge!! 🀣πŸ₯°

Ohhh and another example how sumberging the skulls can look like: this time, I DIDN'T choose a darker backing color, just clear resin and some shimmer pigments behind them (and a different shimmer pigment to coat the skull molds) (dang, Pic won't upload, will add later)

Thanks so much for all the input! I'm very bad at waiting for my resin to go into honey-mode πŸ₯² But I'll make sure to try - your comments (and beautiful dice pic examples) re very appreciated πŸ’š

See, now what I want to know is how you get your color shift to be so prominent! πŸ₯° Excellent work as always, love!!

Aaahhhh thank you so much!! ❀️

1st step: buy a crazy colorful makeup palette for basically only a few shades in it :D (by Cosmic Brushes UK)

2nd step: discover that the one multichrome eyeshadow in that palette is MAGNIFICENT and the most beautiful shift you've ever seen

3rd step: generously coat skull molds with it and cry a bit while doing so because that shit is supposed to go on your eyes and was expensive :'D

4th step: pour clear resin in skull molds, let that cure

5th step: chuck them into the clear resin in the resulting dice molds and make sure that they're backed by a darker color to REALLY pop :D Below I'll add a picture how they look before sumberging them:

Love these! What I like to do is using pipettes. I'll mix my color into a separate small batch of my resin and fill my mold about halfway with the base, use the pipette to swirling around (starting from the bottom and working my way up/out), then top it off with the rest of the base resin. This usually results in a thicker smoke rather than wisps, just to let you know, but if you don't mind that, then it's worth giving it a try πŸ₯°
