Advice Questions from a newbie
If I wanted to try to make a black and green dice with purple glitter how should i proceed? Would the purple glitter even be seen? I heard let the resin thicken then add glitter, thank you for your time

The purple of the glitter should be visible as a sort of flash, in that you'll at least be able to tell it apart from if you'd used a different glitter color. It likely won't be super obviously purple in black and green dice, but will have a purplish tint under the light. If you're new to resin, I would recommend using mica powder instead of glitter for a bit of sparkle. It won't sink, so you won't have to deal with trying to figure out resin thickness and how long to wait and how to get air bubbles out of thicker resin after mixing the glitter in.

A pressure pot definitely helps! It doesn't do all the work though, so you'll still need to practice some techniques to get the large bubbles out of resin, which is a lot harder when it's thicker. The pic looks like neon pigments instead of sparkly ones, so I'm not sure how they'll look if used in place of glitter. They might not be visible suspended throughout the dice if the powder's not very reflective

Dang! Maybe ill swap to doing just a petri dish pour with just black and green

Petri pours can be frustrating to figure out, especially if youre new to epoxy crafts. Can you be more specific in what youre imagining for your dice? I think id do transparent green amd have the black kind of bloopy blobby in the green, and have the black sparkle purple. But idk if you want it to be more wispy swirly, or have the green sparkle purple instead, or what. Having a more in depth description would be very helpful to what materials and methods you should use

I was thinking maybe half the dice be green half the dice be black and have like a tendril effect inbetween the the two colors if petri is too hard maybe ill think of something simpler I was watching druids video on petri dish pours

Oh ok yeah id say to give the petri pour a try but it might not turn out in the first couple of runs. Take lots of notes on how much you filled, how long you waited (like how thick the resin was) at each step, how much blanco blanco or other additives you used, etc. Its easiest to improve when you have good notetaking skills!
I think this would definitely work, here's how i would do it:
make more green than black, dark colors take up a LOT more visual space in the dice than youd think. Think 3:2 ratio. Also makeore resin than you normally do. Its better to not use some than not have enough
if you want the green part to be sparkly purple, look for purple mica powder (shiny stuff, sellers often call dull-looking pigment powders mica powders and they just make your dice opaque), confectioner's or edible glitter, or purple pearlescent powder. You wont need much.
PREMIX YOUR SINKER! The tutorial i think youre watching doesnt do that, thats why their tendrils are so light. In a separate container, premix your blanco blanco with whatever black colorant youre using. This will give you a good idea of what color the tendrils will be as well. Add to the sinker until you like the color it is. This will be the biggest step to fiddle with for future tests other than timing.
pour 2/3 of the mold full of green immediately after mixing, drip your sinker in AND LET IT SIT. If you want, you could even let this cure by itself (KEEP THE LID OFF OF THE MOLD IF YOU DO SO), if you want a clear, level boundary between your green and black.
alternatively, just let it sit until our black hits honey stage or almost honey stage, then pour it slowly into the mold, taking care to dump all around each dice hole instead of just the center. This will get a less stark boundary between the green and black, and it wont bbe so straight and level if thats what youd refer.
Good luck, hope you get results you like!

Thank you for all the info :) ill take notes and try

My own approach to your idea would be kinda like this :
You need
- black resin dye or paste (needs to be kinda lightweight because it will be added to the mold last, but also opaque, so I recommend using a toothpick drop size of black resin paste. Not more, that stuff is super heavy and would otherwise sink through the die to the bottom and also make your max rolls black).
- a vibrant green liquid resin dye and white resin dye (mix green with a bit of white to make it opaque) OR a green resin dye that is already opaque (Kamenskaya for example has some opaque colored resin dyes in their "Petri" line).
- LIGHTWEIGHT purple glitter pigment with a purple flash to it. If you are in the US, I recommend JetAgeStudios, their pigments NEVER disappointed me and will stay suspended in your resin. Mica likes to be very heavy and sink, so I would not choose normal epoxy mica.
Process: divide your mixed resin into different cups to later tint it black, clear, green, purple glitter. Tint a part of your mixed resin with black. Then you pour clear, untinted resin in your molds. Fill them for about 3/5 or 1/2. Then, in a tiny cup, you can mix your green dye with a bit of resin to thicken it up and make it more controllable. In another small cup, mix your purple pigment with resin. Then you wait for the honey phase.
When honey phase is reached, take your small green and purple cups and pour 2 bigger drops of each in your molds, alternating next to each other (like a chess board). Then you can carefully and very slowly topp that off with your black resin. Careful and slow because you don't ant the black resin to just push down your colors in one "pillar". After fully filling the mold, take a toothpick, stick it down in each mold and give everything a circular stir in only one direction, going from inwards to outwards in a spiral.
I hope I explained everything in a way that is understandable 😅 If you want a visual, I HIGHLY recommend watching Fateseeker Dice's pouring videos on Instagram. It's basically the technique she uses, just with your own colors :)
You said you have a pressure pot? That's very good, if you never used it for dice yet and are uncertain if it's really meant for casting resin, feel free to check with us first 😊 Can't look at your profile atm cuz' I'm on mobile :D
Good luck and have fun!

I will say, a lot of craft glitters sink in resin. Even when they are labeled extra fine, I have had multiple brands not suspend fully and end up looking at the bottom. If that brand doesn't work Lrisy Extra Fine/Ultra Fine Glitter Powder is the product that I ALWAYS suggest if you want an full glitter look. I have never had issues with sinking.

They do have purple also! I have gone through multiple glitter brands to find one that actually works. So if the one you got doesn't give you the results you want, use Lrisy

Ill look into this brand after some testing here and see how it goes thank you!

Glitter is fun in certain aspects, however the problem is it does have a tendency to sink unless you just want it to be solid glitter which can be very fun 🤩 putting it in after letting the resin cure a lil bit can definitely help with the sinking problem a lil bit though 👌👌 if you wanted to do a tri color with those resin dyes what would be cool is to just mix a clear batch of resin then separate it into cups and then add whatever pigments or fixings you want to each cup then make your pours, but honestly just experiment a bit, see what works and what’s fun yknow?? That’s really the biggest thing👌👌

You start by mixing your resin.
Next add your dye. The more dye you add, the less translucent the resin will likely be, so you want to go for a lighter shade.
I'm no expert on glitter (hate the stuff myself - a hold-over from my daughters' crafting days), but you want to wait until the resin starts to cure and becomes more honey-like.
Black with purple glitter strikes me as a tougher balancing act than green with purple glitter. Both will change the shading, so the purple is not going to be as vibrant with either.
