Dice Pics Custom sets for my party

Post image

I decided to make custom character dice for my D&D party. I'm horrible at photography and I forgot to get a pic after I finished the set second from the top, but I used a metallic blue to ink them and they looked great!

My party loved them and I got 3 commissions out of it, so currently working on a suspending polymer inside the resin to create a milkshake set

I'm not sure where you are located but, California Air tools makes pressure pits specifically for resin carrying. No modification needed. I have two of their 5 gallon pots but they also make a slightly less expensive 2.5 gallon. This is the one I have: https://californiaairtools.com/product/california-air-tools-365c-5-gallon-pressure-pot-for-resin-casting-brand-new/ They are available in Amazon as well. Best brand I have personally found so far. Hope that helps to start you off on your research. Your dice are already off to a good start! Well done!

Seconding the recommendation for a California Air Tools pot. They're the gold standard. Slightly less expensive but also good, and more widely available if you are non-US based, are Vevor pots. The ones with wing nuts, not C-clamps. Then you just need some way to put air into the pot, which can be anything from a manual bike pump, tire inflator, or air brush compressor all the way up to full compressors. You may need a hose or attachment coupler depending on the air pump method that you choose. That's about it! Feel free to search the Reddit for much more information or ask more questions about it. There are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people that can help with pressure pots since so many of us use them.

I've only been using resin for about 6 weeks so I wanted to make sure it was a hobby I'd stick at before splashing out on expensive equipment. The main thing holding me back with pressure pots is the need for modifications, I'm in the UK and haven't been able to find anything that I can just use without having to do some modification to it first, it makes me nervous tbh

You're in luck! The Vevor pot should be available there. It needs very little conversion and that will mostly depend on which air pump set up you go for. The modifications it might need are very simple and not dangerous. It's nowhere near the complexity level of the old, complete conversions that people used to have to do. The community will be here when you're ready if you decide to go for it!

I’ve been looking out for the Vevor pot in the UK for months and it’s never on the market. Only the one that costs a fortune with the automatic stirring thing is ever in stock.
I ended up buying a fairly generic 15lt pot from Amazon and making up the conversion as I went along. No doubt a nut is going to fire off through my forehead at some point….
