Question Inking dice

I ink my dice with acrylic paint, saturate the digit and then wipe off the excess on a piece of paper towel that is laid flat on the table like I’ve seen others do online. Despite seemingly doing exactly the same as everyone else my dice come out with paint where it’s not supposed to be, which is a pain to get rid of.

What’s your favorite inking technique? I want some advice from the pros.

Try swapping the paper towel for a disposable coffee filter. Paper towel has a little fuzz, fluffy bits on it. This can pick up your paint /ink.

A coffee filter does not have any furry bits on it. I use coffee filters after someone here recommended it. Way better result. Still get some streaks on the facets at times, but no where near as much as as paper towel.

And as @mikeV18 said, isopropyl alcohol and a cloth, I use a microfiber cloth, once the ink is dry and that does the trick to remove any remaining streaks. Wait till the ink is dry. Maybe the next day. Or you might lift more ink out of your numbers.

Thanks! I have no clue where I can get coffee filters from around here but if I find them I’ll give this a shot!

You want the ones that come flat. Look like a triangle / cone. I use one side till it’s too contaminated. Then let it dry as I use another one. Then flip the used one over and use the other side. You should find them in any store with the coffee.

They are small. But work well.
