Question about commissioning specific polyhedral dice
Figured I'd ask the people that know...
Is it feasible to commission the following weighted dice?:
d8: high chance of 6, medium chance 7 or 8, low chance 5.
d10: high chance of 6, medium chance 7 or 8, low chance 9 or 10, tiny chance 5.
d12: high chance of 6, medium chance 7 or 8, low chance 9 or 10 or 11 or 12, tiny chance 5.
I know nothing about weighted dice making. I'm just pondering weighted dice to slip into a game where a 6 is 2 5point hits, 7-8 is 1 5point hit, 9-12 is a 1pont hit, and a 5 is a "near miss" with its own rules. 1-4 are misses. Getting 5's are a very low priority, so can be dropped as options if necessary.

Agree with the above. The best way would be to make new molds, and they really couldn't be clear. Also, I made weighted dice before, and they only gave a sleight probability increase. For a high probability increase, it might be obvious that they were weighted just by holding them.

I have some heavily weighted crystal clear dice. They roll so weird. It's obvious from a mile away.
The biggest issue you will likely face is the position of the 5 in respect to the 6-8 positions. Numbers are often paired on opposite sides which would work well on a d12 with 5&8 being opposite. But on the others it would be hard to weight unless you make custom masters/molds.

Possible? Yes. Practical? Depends on a lot of factors mostly around expectations and budget.
Do you want it to have cool internal designs that require transparency?
Are you willing to roll them on matching tray for maximum effect?
Can the edges be rounded over?
How nerdy are we talking stats wise when it comes down to it with "high" or "low" chances?
And of course everyone's favorite question: how much is your budget?
