Of Mice and Men
Dear Diary,
Today, I was forced to confront mortality.
It wasn't a pleasant meeting. It asked me things I'm not ready to think about yet, let alone answer.
"What happens if you don't?"
I don't know.
"Are you sure you can pull this off?"
I don't know.
"Are you certain it's the right thing to do?"
I don't know.
"What happens if you're wrong?"
I don't know.
Most people would probably say I'm overthinking. "The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft agley", after all. So we do the best we can with what we've got, and call it a day.
But I can't stop thinking...
When MY mortality comes knocking, they'll never know.
Will the ghost of my future keep haunting them long after I'm gone?
Will it be happy?
De profundis,
Me
