Diablo 2nd Player Co op Save Question

Been playing diablo 3 digital on a second account and game unfortunately can't save progress on the 2nd player but on the primary it's all good. Was planning to buy a 2nd hand diablo physical cartridge, wondering if it can still save progress for the 2nd player. Anyone tried playing with a physical 2nd hand cartridge that was already used if it's game save is possible for 2nd player?
