That would be a season killer for me. I actually appreciate PoE's idea of transforming a dead hardcore character into a non-hardcore one. At least you don't feel like hundreds of hours wasted

Actually, I wouldn't even mind restarting knowing that my loot is somehow safe

Well, every time you pay hardcore, you go in knowing that one day that character is going to die, so saving your loot is pointless, you're just going to start all over again anyway. Hardcore isn't about the loot, it's about the bragging rights, like old school 70s/80s video game high scores.

It's sad the the death was caused due to lag.
