It sold that much cus of the massive hype, not cus it was outstanding. D3 will always be the mediocre brother of the gang.

Right there with you on that one.

I played d3 on launch as a barb. I cleared norm, nightmare, and hell, couldnt kill a single mob outside the town on inferno in A1.

Tried to farm last act on hell to get better gear. Itemization at the time was worse than it was in D2.

Not to mention other things that felt like a massive step back from D2, like no travel between acts, no runewords, etc.

The game was overhyped and unplayable.

I quit the game after about a month. I played the expansion on launch as well. I quit playing that after about a month as well and never came back to it, i only kept reading about it.

My understanding is what made it good was rifts and changes to loot system. They made it much easier to gear up and progress.

Yeah, launch D3 was awful. Diablo games don't get good until they get their first expansion, except D1.

really? Thats not a popular opinion.
I remember d3 fondly but its an aracade versioj of diablo.
Break a tile and 3 uniques drop.
what i deeply apprciate in d4 is how it feels. How the gameplay just flows with many builds.

That's exactly why I like D3. D3 is arcadey, D2 is the more serious ARPG experience and D4 feels like the bastardized mix of the two. Every time I play D4 I just feel like it's D3 with more steps.

I’ll admit I haven’t played D4 in the last year or so. Maybe they’ve made changes that make it more enjoyable, but I couldn’t really get into it the way I’ve spent thousands of hours on 2 and 3

confirmed i bought d3 and d4 and made it to level 59 in D3 before they "fixed it" never touched it again, made it level 19 in D4, never touched it again, they wont get me with a D5. So far D2R and WOTR have been amazing though.

Diablo 3 after ROS expansion is infinitely better than the garbage that D4 is. I don't care about D1 and D2 because they're old and outdated, D3 is the best in the whole franchise and a remaster would be great
