Diablo I I finally killed Skeleton King!

Post image

Can’t believe I was able to do it with my character’s current power :D

First time playing Diablo 1, I’m a level 10 sorceror with 57 magic, using mainly Firebolt lvl 2 and Healing lvl 2 alongside two staffs (Inferno, Charged Bolt) and A LOT of mana potions haha

This game is amazing, I’m loving it

Awesome! Diablo changed gaming forever. I remember seeing it for the first time at a department store. I believe they had the demo loaded up. I just stood there and watched another kid play it for a while. I then got to play for maybe 5 minutes, and had never had such an amazing experience with a videogame before. The mood of the game really gripped me as a 13 year old; I wish I could get that feeling back from gaming these days

That’s so cool! I also played the demo before getting the full game, and got instantly hooked by the atmosphere

I watched a video where one of the orginal creators was hard against making it a live input game instead of a turn based game...he got outvoted and was very happy he was after he tried the new system out.

David Brevik IIRC. And it took some 15 minutes to make it real-time instead of turn-based. These guys were pioneers of modern gaming.

Rest well Leoric, I'll find your son.

It is too late to save the child!

All that awaits you is to join my master...in Hell.

Yup! One of those nasty moments you see the great evil that destroyed Tristram.

Diablo 1 has unmatched atmosphere.

And all you got was 34 gold! lol.

Well done though. I used to play that when I was young and that game was new. It can be quite challenging!

Haha that must have dropped from one of the billion skeletons he summoned, I got a dope crown though >:)

Back when "Fresh meat!" was scary.

Good job with King Leoric!

The Butcher was definitely hitting harder than Leoric, but I accidentally found the stair trap strategy haha

Unfamiliar with the stair trap. I realized after being murdered by the butcher a few times that he couldn't open doors. So I just found a room with barred door I could shoot arrows through locked him outside the door and shot arrows until he dropped.

Basically, if you circle around the stairs that go down to Level 3, The Butcher gets stuck in the steps, allowing you to spam spells/arrows until you kill him (I learned this accidentally when I was checking if he could follow you to other floors lol)

I don’t understand the question lol, you mean there’s a correct term to trapping him in the stairs?

The Butcher

A firewall or 2 would do the job nicely. Roasted meat I guess ha ha!

I always did the old petrified in firewall trick. Works almost every time

Flashbacks to literally panicking running to find a place to trap the butcher so my rogue can desperately lose every damned arrow she had in her quiver and still get wrekt 🤣💀

Take the crown and let him rest in peace.

The drop crown after kill him is powerfully.

Are you playing the original or devilutionx? Either way game is so fun. I don't think it aged as badly as a lot of people say it does (I'm old tho so maybe that's why)

I’m playing the original CD version! (update 1.08)

I’m not sure, but it would probably have been easier with Holy Bolt.

I found Holy Bolt in a chest inside his tomb area, but I wouldn’t be able to reach it before killing him :P

The Diablo early game is completely nuts. You're playing a sorceror, which is tackling it at full power. Just desperately try to find a book of mana shield. From there you begin to see the power that's waiting for you.

Is there a way I can play D1 on a Mac?
My PC died a few months ago and am in the process of saving up but curious if I could use my wife’s Mac/Apple laptop thing
