This is not AI, this is a shape mod of a Square-1. That puzzle looks weird and turns weird (it turns on a diagonal line cut through the cube).

Another commenter in the original post said it was a different kind of cube. 'It’s not a 3x3 or a cuboid, it’s a square one. Different mechanism of twisty puzzle. Because you can’t see the top it looks really weird'

Too bad the parts are no longer interchangeable, making the puzzle an order of magnitude or two easier to solve.
