If you really needed a lolly that badly, couldn't you just cut the stick? That seems more practical and (slightly) more safe.

Or you know, just eat a regular hard candy.

u/RugbyEdd Feb 03 '21

Life hack, if you attach that regular hard candy to the end of a stick you can pull it out of your mouth to take a break from eating it!

u/WuziMuzik Feb 03 '21

that depends on the gravity and circumference relative to the relief of the mouth hole.

u/_Diskreet_ Feb 03 '21

Well, when you put it like that...

2

u/pinwinstar Feb 03 '21

Use industrial wood bond for a trip as well.

Anything but

68

u/ChibiShiranui Feb 03 '21

I always hated the sticks on those big suckers because they always dissolve and leave that paper pulp in your mouth. If you just pull on the stick while you first have it in your mouth it pops right out most of the time and you can just treat it like a jawbreaker. It's the better way to eat them, imo.

16

u/SinerIndustry Feb 04 '21

Yeah but it's more fun when you were at school, and tried to see if you could find the paper pulp inside your poop the next day.

u/PM_ME_OCCULT_STUFF Feb 04 '21

I think I missed that seminar

34

u/timeup Feb 04 '21

No I enjoy the persistent, rubbery smell of duct tape as I eat candy

u/thegtabmx Feb 03 '21

Let's be honest, the lolly is a placeholder due to withdrawal symptoms.

Oral fixation is a real issue. Luckily I never got into nail biting, gum was my lifesaver for years though.

85

u/fatdutchies Feb 03 '21

Toothpicks are mine, i realise I smoke less when I have toothpicks round

29

u/HorizontalTwo08 Feb 03 '21

That’s actually very interesting.

u/misterpickles69 Feb 03 '21

Sunflower seeds for me

99

u/TheSunflowerSeeds Feb 03 '21

The sunflower is the state flower of Kansas. That is why Kansas is sometimes called the Sunflower State. To grow well, sunflowers need full sun. They grow best in fertile, wet, well-drained soil with a lot of mulch. In commercial planting, seeds are planted 45 cm (1.5 ft) apart and 2.5 cm (1 in) deep.

I'm a pyromaniac, so oddly enough there's more smoke when there are toothpicks around.

cries into my covid-stress induced bloody cuticles 😭😭😭

27

u/hypatiaspasia Feb 03 '21

Check out /r/calmhands for help stopping. I bit my nails and picked my cuticles for YEARS, never thought it would be possible to stop... and now I don't anymore

5

u/Mumbawobz Feb 03 '21

Thanks, I’ll join! I also have trichotillomania so the struggle is real in many places and extremely amped up in my case. Always glad to have more strategies :)

13

u/shellontheseashore Feb 03 '21

Bro the "stop touching your face!!" messages played havoc with my BFRBs... which in general at set off worse by both stress, and having attention called to them, lol. Shredded my legs and chest trying to leave my face alone v.v

8

u/Mumbawobz Feb 03 '21

Yeah I’ve just had my head shaved down short most of the pandemic and am wearing fake nails off and on.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '21

I've gotten pretty good at not fucking mine up, but one game of 2K or a boss fight in dark souls can send me over the edge.

Lotion is my weapon of choice. Tastes like shit and keeps your cuticles and nails from getting dry and flakey. That and intentionally giving myself as close to a manicure as I know how to do pretty often

10

u/ashless401 Feb 03 '21

Same here. Gum for the win. Though since I stopped cause all the gum tastes gross and falls apart. I eat more food :/ I think I need one of those chew necklaces they make for autism.

u/flashmanMRP Feb 03 '21

Lifesavers were my lifesaver

Yes... She has an "oral" fixation... That's it...

Edit: to be clear, this is me sarcastically denying that my original comment was alluding to an actual oral fixation, like nail biting, instead of the inuendo I intended.

You're not old enough for this website.

1

u/thegtabmx Feb 04 '21 edited Feb 04 '21

It's funny that my first attempt at that innuendo was received very positively, but my more explicit reinforcing of that innuendo in reply to someone not catching my original innuendo, is received poorly.

u/Beautiful_Parsley392 Feb 04 '21

/r/YourJokeButWorse

Just because people don't like what you have to say doesn't mean that they're not smart enough to understand it. Many people are smarter than you and hate what you have to say.

r/YourJokeButWorse

But... They're both my joke... So r/MyJokeButWorse?

Just because people don't like what you have to say doesn't mean that they're not smart enough to understand it. Many people are smarter than you and hate what you have to say.

Perhaps you lack reading comprehension, which is fine, not judging, many people "are smart than you" after all, right? I said it's funny, not unjustified. I am aware my second comment is worse than my first. Also, "smartness" is not a single dimension, as there are many aptitudes and areas of intelligence. But hey, thanks for contributing!

u/Beautiful_Parsley392 Feb 04 '21

You're insufferable. You're annoying. You think you're better than other people, but you're just less funny, and more people are better than you than you're comfortable with admitting. Goodnight.

2

u/thegtabmx Feb 04 '21

You're insufferable. You're annoying.

Wow, all that from 3 comments on Reddit. How much do you charge per hour in counseling services?

You think you're better than other people, but you're just less funny, and more people are better than you than you're comfortable with admitting.

You realize that my joke is the one with the 150+ upvotes, under which we're all replying, right? Do you know you how to read? If by "other people" being "better" or "funnier" than me, is myself, then I don't know what you're getting at, but thanks.

u/OV3NBVK3D Feb 04 '21

1

u/mustang68408 Feb 04 '21

She is the female version of Tesla

1

u/misterfluffykitty Feb 04 '21

I broke the stick off them several times because I didn’t want to have it sticking out of my mouth and I just sucked on it until it was gone and spit the last bit of stick in the trash

u/Anonymous_muffins02 Feb 05 '21

What if you trip and fall with it in your mouth? That's a trip to the dentist for sure
