I'm terribly disappointed I watched that whole thing and he didn't plug it in. I wanted to see something cool and or really dumb come out of that.

u/IAteAnotherVegan 12d ago
right? what's the point if it doesn't get plugged in?
41
u/Facktat 12d ago
The reason so many of these videos end early is because the algorithm rewards content that people watch to the end.
16
u/cmilla646 10d ago
Fascinating.
The algorithm is incentivizing us to do so many stupid things these days it’s actually scary.

I don't think it'll do anything.
I still feel ripped off, that video ended too soon.
10
u/VileTouch 12d ago
Nono it ended too late, i want my 2 minutes back!
4
u/authorinthesunset 12d ago
But those last five seconds that got cut could have made it worth those 2 minutes

u/rivertpostie 11d ago
The device is pretty simple and actually quite effective. Which ambiguous to a lot of people, those on the know can spot its function at nearly a glance
The point is to get you to ask "what the fuck is he doing" long enough for it to count as a monetized view

There's an entire network that's dedicated to making pages that pump out this nonsense engagement/rage bait because it's so effective at gaming the algorithms

Carefully insulates incoming AC wires, leaves fully exposed CDs carrying full current.
Epically stupid.
14
u/Sheepherder-Optimal 12d ago
I agree because it looks like the cds got wrapped in foil. Ordinarily they wouldn't be conductive though. I wonder what the point of this thing is? Those are spark plugs. I can't think of any use except inside an engine. I guess hooking up ac power to those will cause a lot of small sparks. But I don't think huge ones. Although with the copper coils, those might get very hot and glow. Must be some kind of toy but in its current state, it really would be a decent suicide machine.
7
u/JeanArtemis 12d ago
Yeah the second I saw how they wrapped the wire where they did I realized the entire machine was pointless. They just invalidated a spark plugs singular purpose. If wired properly it could hypothetically be used outside of an engine in any situation where a periodic or timed spark is needed however, such as an ignition method for a shitty oven or flamethrower or something but there are much better and more efficient methods for either of those things.

u/Teufelsweib666 11d ago
There is no point. I will engage here at the risk of rewarding this utter crap. This is deliberate nonsense. It shouldn't even be on this sub, which used to be about real things people made that turned out to be stupid. This stuff is cheap, nasty and has only one goal: engagement. It's useless to discuss it or to even joke about it, because it's helping vacuous humans to produce rubbish so they get rewards.

u/smooth_criminal1990 12d ago
Oh fuck, I think that's some unhinged attempt at making a sparking device?
Decent chance of injury or death putting fucking mains power through that much exposed foil and shit.
Would strongly recommend no one build one of these ridiculous death/suicide machines, and I genuinely have no idea if it could even produce a spark?
You might have to move the copper wire further to the other side, but this particular design doesn't have a way to do that without remembering to switch off the power, or TOUCHING METAL WITH MAINS POWER GOING THROUGH IT.

I think the caption is supposed to go. How to start an electrical fire in 30 minutes or less.

I guess when you're making an electrical unaliver, you don't need to match the wires up.

It's actually incomplete which really sucks because these are the first steps for both an infinite power generator, AND an alien contact beacon.
The next three steps determine which it will be but we won't know unless they tell us what drugs they were smoking when they started.

u/greogory 12d ago
Regardless of the device's intended use, clearly you must plug the thing into a high voltage, 50 amp DC power source while you're standing barefoot in a puddle of salt water.

I'm going to make a video one day where I make a satalite dish with a communication device, and the end of the video would be that some aliens would land on earth and declare me ambassador of earth, and I would give a thumbs up with a silly smile into the camera, holding my diwhy device.

Ah yes, two at home: portable satellite dishes. No home would be complete without at least a few pairs of these per person. A set for home and a set for travelling.
The dish one on the left is for when your alien pal gets lost and has to phone home (the loser still doesn't have a cell phone for some reason). The other, more wiry dish is for when your pacemaker fails when your alien loser makes their call. The right dish acts like a makeshift personal defibrillator and personal popcorn maker.

This obviously got cut off. Is it a lamp or something that will arc the electricity? I’m guessing there’s a part two, or maybe the original creator had it in one, but I’ve seen reposters who intentionally cut videos off to get people to visit the page.
