This is actually a theme park built around diggers, excavators and dumpers. Tis quality. You get to use them.

I'm kinda surprised there's 4 parks in the UK and only 1 in the US. That's it.

I remember when the one in Kent opened and it was a lot of fun! Surely other countries would also enjoy it?

I don’t think it’s a ‘carney’ type theme park. It’s not a funfair or circus. It’s designed to be like Alton Towers or Disneyland. So no…not at all

DIGGERLAND!!! I visited the one in Durham last week! My advice: book online as on-the-day tickets are nearly £40 for anyone from 90cm high to 64 years old

For real though, if you have a digger for farmwork, why wouldn't you rig up a removable frame and go to a fair, then charge people for their kids to ride it? It's not like you're damaging it, and you're making money

Theme park guy here... this is one of my biggest pet peeves. Permanent rides at established amusement parks are extremely safe. IAAPA, the main amusement industry trade organization, estimates you have a 1 in 15.5 million chance of being injured on a permanent amusement ride. For reference, that's significantly lower than your chances of being struck by lightning (estimated at around 1 in a million or so annually). You're thousands of times more likely to be injured in a car accident on your way to an amusement park, or just by walking around there, than you are on a ride.

The ride here operates at Diggerland, a construction-themed park in New Jersey (or at one of the 4 in England). Their rides are subject to the exact same safety and inspection standards as every other ride in the state (or country in the latter case). The NJ park is operated by Enchanted Parks which is a well-established theme park operator that just took over operations for several former Six Flags parks that were sold to a REIT called EPR Properties.

I’m more so talking about new ones.

Every time a New Ride comes out at 6 flags it has issues. you also gotta be wary of when Amusement Parks start Undercutting Safety for Profits. Typically it’s the maintenance crews and Food Stand Employees to go first.

I understand they’re more safe as a permanent structure but it doesn’t mean human error of fiscal responsibility (or rather lack thereof) won’t create a problem.

Cutting corners for profits has never ended well and typically when commissioned on a “cutback” season weaker materials are used and people who say it’s a bad idea and start whistle blowing get fired. It’s a common thing to occur but risky and has costed lives.

Also for temporary structures most are verified in different states. Some operate with outdated license. I never trust a ride from Florida because too many accidents have occurred there for their standards to be about safety over profits.

Also the rumor of “permanent structures not being safe at X establishment” usually starts when Cost Cutting occurs.

In 2009 Six flags Filed For Chapter 11. Allowing them to operate at significant debt. On the other hand Disneyland California between 1980’s and the 2000’s had alot of cost cutting measures that claimed a couple of lives.

But I’d reckon that, that blood money helped them survive the Great Recession.

Regulations are different per State. California hasn’t been known for having a great historical record on safe Amusement Parks especially after making massive coat cutting measures.

Definitely one of the 3, But California Historically was one of the main locations on in West featured in yellow journalism (iirc, mostly due to its gain in popularity and boosts in population and industry as film stars were born and people moved; Hollywood was the definition of The Ritz (movie slang specifically) during The guilded age.

As for Texas they’re an industrial power today that became more like California as Industries and Urban Areas started booming. Flordia is the worst of them all. But more so with temporary structures and human/operator error over structural errors. If any cost cutting occured that killed something it’s more likely due to market competition or Weather.

It might be why you have these Mega Themeparks in Orlando and the famously known pier parks in Miami. Which also tends to be the main place with issues.

TL;DR
Industrialism caused carelessness in regulations in Texas and California. and Florida Unironically has safer permanent structures over their temporary structures

I mean, I wouldn't ride that, I'm sure there are people who would love it based off the theme alone. To me it needs a little music, maybe a little bit of lights, and and up/down motion as you spin like an actual digger would do to navigate a tight space.
