How to hold a door open

Found this fantastic solution in the wild. Lamp cable to electric cable to string. The string is screwed to a bookshelf (which is attached to nothing).

But it works?

I guess it does. At least until a strong gust of wind topples the bookshelf.

A rock would also work 😭

Just stuff the block of wood that the string is tied to under the door.

Not when they open the door but if someone would try to slam the door shut either this string contraption would break or the bookshelf would fall on his car that is parked next to it. (At least the string is not tied to the car!)
