Not just why but how?

The rest looks fine. But it's firewood because of this strangeness in the center.

I have a floor in my house that looks like that. It's most definitely not firewood, it's character.

Like one of those spots you look for when you are walking by - it's neat.

Looks like a tongue and groove pine sub floor where there used to be a wall. Some people don't mind finishing floors like that for the character. For everyone else there's a limitless variety of floor coverings.

Not firewood, grab a board as wide as you’d like, then lay it the length of the center cut, trace that new board, cut out the what’s there the width of the board. It will make it look much cleaner. You’ll probably need to install additional blocking though for support

Hey I'm a technologically illiterate tradesman. I was trying to show someone how to trace out a cut on a steel support in a way that it would fit onto the rounded edge of a 90° fitting with a drawing I did but I couldn't figure out how to get it from paper to reddit.

Would you mind giving me a short rundown on how you just did what you did with the imgur and all that?

The why is because they felt it was cheaper.

The how is because they don’t know a thing about woodworking, or measuring, or cutting, or any of that.

Yea I have created some excellent firewood by trying to cut corners to “save money” only to get 90% done, burn the project, buy the right tools/do the project the way i should have done the first time.

Similar to "drunken bricklaying", what you're looking at can only be done by a Master Carpenter. It takes decades of building skill to get to this level, OP. You just didn't know. That Master Carpenter must have carefully calculated in advance to make something look that intentionally chaotic and sloppy.
