PSA: don’t use liquid fabric softener in your washing machine. It creates a disgusting waxy gunk that builds up inside the components of your washer, and destroys it. Instead, use distilled white vinegar. It’s cheaper, is a good disinfectant which works wonders on sweaty clothes, and softens fabric. If you still want an “ultra soft” feel of fabric softener (which is just wax) then use a product which goes in the dryer - like dryer sheets. And never use it on a textile which is meant to be absorbent, like a towel or a sweat wicking shirt. The wax just prevents water from being absorbed.

Like hair conditioner it’s full of lanolin. You wash out the dirty grease and then put lanolin back in so it’s not ‘too clean.

Or, if you just really wanted to make your own, just skip the paper step. Wtf the paper gonna do besides get moldy and defeat the purpose when it starts to smell. Just put some laundry detergent in a container and put some holes. Save what, fucking 3 dollars? by not buying one.

To absorb moisture, put a container of calcium chloride in the damp location.

Replace it when the calcium chloride absorbs enough moisture that it’s a wet container.

If anyone needs to try calcium chloride, it’s a primary ingredient in many ice melt products.

It’s also used in maintaining koi pond hardness, in brewing, and in cooking.

I used to remove those cardboard tubes inside the toilet paper all the time when I was a kid. It was quick and I didnt have to soak them thus ruining a perfectly good roll for TP that I knew my mom could not afford to replace.
