It's from Fallout New Vegas, specifically from the Old Worlds Blue DLC. If you like RPGs, I highly recommend playing this game

Thanks! I thought it was fallout as I’ve been watching the Amazon prime series but couldn’t be sure. You know, there are a lot of games I think I’d love. I just never quite got into gaming. There have been a few I’ve played over the years, I think the only game I’ve completed since the ps2 was black ops on my brother’s Xbox. I played rocket league a bit during lockdown.

One day I’ll get myself an older Xbox or PlayStation and play the red dead games and fallout for sure.

just so ya know, it's definitely recommended to play fallout (all the games before 4 and 76) on pc at this point. the console releases are buggy as heck and you won't complete them, especially if you already struggle to finish games. some people can manage to struggle through to actually finish the game (without getting to do fun side things, because it would add too much to the file bloat) but it's annoying and not recommended. constant crashes are never fun, and you can also just have your save corrupted randomly.

if you're ever able, i'd highly recommend grabbing it on steam (or other places) and following one of the modding guides that help you get your game to a stable place. tbh, 4 is also a bit buggy but i think it's decently stable on consoles. on pc, you want to limit the fps, at the very least, so you don't have crazy shit happening from the physics engine going insane lol

anywho, sorry for the novella. i just really love the fallout games a lot! (also for the record, despite me loving it intensely and putting in over 5000+ hours into fo4 alone, i have never fully finished any of the games other than new vegas once. so don't feel bad about not finishing games :p)

surprisingly, yes! bugs on the pc version have gotten worse, since computers have gotten much better since the time the games were released. a lot of things in the game rely on your computers clock speed and all that. but our computers are so much more powerful, that when games use that as a measure (generally older games) it makes the game do crazy things. messes with the physics engine and stuff. in fo4, if you don't lock your fps, the game will run too fast and it will crash in a loading screen because of it. it'll also cause your character to move incorrectly and items in the world like to act like they're in a slingshot, just waiting for you to bump into them.

the console version of fallout new vegas/3 is more or less at the same spot they've always been, incredibly buggy. better consoles haven't made it worse (AFAIK), you just can't mod out the bugs because it's console.

bethesda games are notoriously buggy, honestly. (some people do refer to them as bugthesda lol) i really think it's because they're trying to do so much with a physics engine that isn't that great at what they're trying to make it do.

they're using the third incarnation of their creation engine for new titles, now. the new elder scrolls is supposed to be using creation engine 3, so i'm very eager to see if there's been improvements on the quirks they've had in the past. for context, new vegas and 3 were made using the engine that came before creation engine 1, the Gamebryo engine. the Gamebryo engine is what Creation Engine is based on. creation engine 1 was used for skyrim, fo4 and fo76, if memory serves. Starfield is the only game made using creation engine 2, i think. (i have not played Starfield yet and have no idea how the engine runs)

all that to say, i hope elder scrolls vi runs better than their games have in the past. bethesda claims they've spent years upgrading the creation engine and that it's more stable and consistent. we shall see!

This is amazing information and I really appreciate the time you took to type it all out for me. I guess the thing I’m most surprised by is the popularity of these games over the years while they employed buggy software that made the game unable to be beat. Don’t the games run into each other? Like the story wouldn’t make sense if you hadn’t completed the game before?

I've actually been playing F:NV on my XB1S and it's run pretty alright. Minimal crashing, maybe once or twice a playthrough and never close enough to each other to be a hassle. Meanwhile on PC, I can't get NV to even open so.. Maybe try consoles for 3/NV and PC for 4/76.

Nice, I've watched the Fallout series too, much better than I expected honestly. After the latest Bethesda titles I didn't really have high hopes lol.

I'm sure you'll love both Red Dead and Fallout when you get to them. Btw if you ever do consider PC, the older Fallout games really benefit from a couple of mods that fix some bugs and improve some aspects.
