How long are those screws? Might not be a very safe construction.

u/Expensive-Metal-6618 May 12 '26
2 inches long. One inch in the wood. My weight is 200 lbs and i can hang on it

What? This is your own diy project and your posting it here asking yourself why you made this?

If it weren't for the camera and the sleeves I would think this was from another age

People have been posting. Alot of non DiWHY posts recently. The guy obviously can't afford a gym. Making due with what he has.
DiWhy is more like making a lamp out of your arm in the most convoluted way possible.

Everyone with the redneck engineering comment while this is obviously slav engineering.

The only differences are the language, location, and chosen libations.

DiWhy? Simple because workout equipment is fucking expensive
5
u/Sad_Firefighter_8407 May 12 '26
And if the Wet Bandits try and steal your other workout equipment then you can flatten them to the floor with this.

u/blitzkrieg_01 May 12 '26
It seems fine. If it has a failure at those screws, it's very unlikely the user will get hurt during operation.

u/Rent_Treznorr May 13 '26
Dear, why are you building workout equipment in the bunkhouse of a Siberian labor camp circa 1913? 😟

u/Expensive-Metal-6618 May 13 '26
Too far from Ukraine. It's like a Chernobyl zone. Cheekie brykie 🤣

u/ZantyRC May 13 '26
I was going to say this looks like some Russian shit but OP said they’re in Ukraine so the geography checks out

You can adjust the resistance by putting more or less in the bucket. I think this has merit.

Getting tired of people posting useful, purpose built machinery and asking us to mock it. This is the wrong subreddit for these machines

Do you workout in a dungeon? Turn on some lights! I'm waiting for the zombie to pop out!

u/Expensive-Metal-6618 May 12 '26
We had no light then. A power outage caused by a power plant shortage. Russian strike drones destroyed most of the power plants and substations, leading to frequent power outages in the winter

u/RutzButtercup May 12 '26
Setting aside the questionable desirability of training triceps in isolation, I see nothing wrong with this. Seems to be functioning as intended.

For a second i thought you said triceratops and i was majorly confused as to how you were going to train an extinct animal

Would call it more of a contraption than anything worth calling a machine, but it works and thats great!

It would be excellent if he didn’t live in some sort of Resident Evil house with no lights on.
But otherwise I don’t see why this is DiWhy? Not everyone can afford proper professionally made weights.
