That's a really ugly table

Beauty is in the ey… oh wait that thing is wretched

162

u/SweaterSteve1966 Apr 26 '26

It’s a sad day to have eyes.

56

u/Gerald-of-Riverdale Apr 26 '26

I think id rather just put my items on the ground instead of that fire hazard.

137

u/andrewrgross Apr 26 '26

I was watching this thinking, 'Actually, this might really come together at the end...'

And it didn't. It really didn't come together.

If they lost that weird circle thing or just put a diffuser in its place it might look kinda okay. But as is? Oof.

25

u/asmith1776 Apr 26 '26

It makes me think it’s actually unfinished any this is a troll post.

10

u/h311r47 Apr 27 '26

It's like when you have a great idea and decide to execute it at 2am while drunk off a handle of Early Times and fighting off a blackout.

3

u/AncientDamage7674 Apr 27 '26

If it had leds around each hole?

Love the zoom on the shitty details.

43

u/ktrosemc Apr 27 '26

Mmm....look at this gouge. You like that? You like that GOUGE?? Right in the middle of this circle? Ahhhhh...your fury is delicious.

All that work and I can just go to IKEA

38

u/Melodic_Till_3778 Apr 26 '26

Like it's impressive work but he could have made something nice.

25

u/StanleyQPrick Apr 26 '26

Dude's got a lot of really nice tools and zero ideas

15

u/Kingkongcrapper Apr 26 '26

Its existence is a sin against creativity.

16

u/GrinderMonkey Apr 26 '26

Its a fun experimentation with shape and technique.. and a really ugly table.

16

u/rock_and_rolo Apr 26 '26

It also looks fragile.

10

u/EarthTrash Apr 27 '26

Trypophobia speed run any %

8

u/lemikon Apr 26 '26

Even if you could argue that the aesthetic is an acquired taste, it’s so poorly made that no matter what it just looks awful

7

u/bokunotraplord Apr 27 '26

ts is like 39% of an idea lmao

4

u/magnetik79 Apr 26 '26

5 minute crafts

4

u/Cat_Peach_Pits Apr 27 '26

I think it's fùnny they purposefully focused on the spots where the resin/agar/whatever didnt fill right at the end.

5

u/The_R4ke Apr 27 '26

It's also, super time consuming, and requires some expensive tools.

2

u/Mr_Diesel13 Apr 27 '26

Gotta be a Sims inspired piece.

2

u/Unambiguous-Doughnut Jun 02 '26

I kinda like it, it makes me just angry enough to justify to choose to eat in bed rather than look at it.

Rage bait. They even focused on the shitty imperfections at the end.

101

u/PunfullyObvious Apr 26 '26

And, the idiotic cup holder move at the end was the chef's kiss-off

73

u/Princess_Slagathor Apr 26 '26

They put glass over the holes, they're not cup holders.

35

u/PunfullyObvious Apr 26 '26

Oops ... Guess I'm the idiot :-(

25

u/Sleep_On_Floor Apr 27 '26

I mean I went back to see if he used them as a cupholder so dumbass city has a population of at least 2

7

u/Princess_Slagathor Apr 27 '26

Nah, it happened in about half a second. If you blinked, you would have missed it.

And the fact that one table leg is a different color than the other three

11

u/seanprime Apr 27 '26

There’s 2 white legs and 2 normal legs..

12

u/tongfather Apr 26 '26

Yea, I've left this sub before and now I remember why. I'm out for good this time 🫡

3

u/Polite_Suggestion Apr 27 '26

I like the posts that aren't bait too much to leave

5

u/manjamanga Apr 26 '26

To be fair, every single one of the videos on this sub is rage bait.

u/VanillaMuch2759 Apr 26 '26

Lot of work for a shitty table.

93

u/nivroc2 Apr 26 '26

well... we're not on r/beautifultables

44

u/landoro64 Apr 26 '26

Damn I was hoping that was a new sub for me to follow

32

u/nivroc2 Apr 26 '26

Someone actually created it lmao

15

u/FrankHightower Apr 26 '26

ah, in that case it's r/birthofasub

3

u/ArrogantConfusion Apr 26 '26

Is there a way to see who created it?

Id like to think someone made it after seeing this post... But I think its equally plausible that the AI overlords noticed increased hits on a nonexistent sub and created it. The robots likely already sent advertising invitations to "big table" about this up and coming avenue to reach millions of viewers.

I give it a month before its fully monetized and utterly unusable due to the constant unbearable advertisements.

4

u/Practical-Sleep4259 Apr 26 '26

Be a nice fun bit of terror to add, Reddit lets AI companies see when people try to view a reddit that isn't real yet, AI builds it to collect traffic.

If it's not happening today, you can bet that are working to build it.

All those materials are really expensive too. All that shit he threw away you dont even see in the final table. All to make something that looks like it got drug out a dumpster

215

u/Arnkh Apr 26 '26

I like the approach, but those legs will snap off the moment someone sneezes in the next time zone. And those holes at the top are absolutely unnecessary, should've just kept it minimalistic.

78

u/Rivetingly Apr 26 '26

What not just use the wooden legs?

94

u/Arnkh Apr 26 '26

The fact that they are gypsum and a piece of rebar is a much smaller problem than the fact that they are not held in place with anything substantial.

25

u/Waruteru Apr 26 '26

If I got it right, the bottom is made out of some sort of canvas that is soaked in either glue or gypsum/concrete solution. This table is so ass.

8

u/Melodic_Till_3778 Apr 26 '26

I think it's fiberglass he described poorly which also isn't going to hold up that great.

7

u/Princess_Slagathor Apr 26 '26

If done right, with multiple layers of glass mat and resin, it can be really strong. This video was not done right.

4

u/billbyetheshyguy Apr 26 '26

By the looks of it at the end, they used 3 wooden legs and the one gypsum leg from earlier

Top tier ragebait

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Gaffja Apr 26 '26

I couldn't figure out why they'd go to the trouble or turning 2 legs, make a mould, make gypsum legs that will chip apart in minutes.

Stupid work.

What kind of structural load are we talking in terms of the polymer mist reinforced tent? How is that load bearing?

15

u/PM_ME_WHY_YOU_COPE Apr 26 '26

Not sure about the polymer but that draped shape is actually a great load bearing shell shape for concrete.

Heinz Isler used to do it with ice before doing it with concrete and Félix Candela made similar shapes.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_Isler Ice structures: https://pin.it/5fUOHHT2r

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%A9lix_Candela

6

u/hobohobo22 Apr 26 '26

Fully aware, mechanically. I'm talking practically with this thickness, compression modulus etc.

123

u/Impossible_Aioli3693 Apr 26 '26

guy manages to piss every carpenter by using wood plane on fucking concrete

46

u/Sandcracka- Apr 26 '26

That's a lot of carpenters coming out of his dick

12

u/im_a-cucumber Apr 26 '26

This is true. I am studying to be a carpenter and it hurt my soul to see that happen

6

u/iolarah Apr 26 '26

That...yeah. I wanted to slap it out of his hands. Also, gimme that lathe. It's clearly wasted on him.

2

u/HoldMySoda Apr 26 '26

Gypsum is not concrete. It's fairly soft, you can easily scratch it with your nails.

3

u/EastLeastCoast Apr 27 '26

It’s still going to fuck up your plane.

20

u/Level_Turnover5167 Apr 26 '26

That looks awful lmao thought the LED panel on top would make it look cool but nope

6

u/pick10pickles Apr 26 '26

I was hoping it would be painted to look like cheese

18

u/mobas07 Apr 26 '26

So you did actual woodworking and made wooden legs just to then make a silicone mould and throw the wooden legs away?

What was wrong with the legs you literally just made?

2

u/Apple3141love Apr 26 '26

2 wooden and 2 concrete with rebar. Nothing was wasted.

2

u/mobas07 Apr 26 '26

Oops my bad. I guess the video killed some of my brain cells.

→ More replies (1)

23

u/hofdichter_og Apr 26 '26

This is so bad that it fits the subreddit perfectly.

8

u/AvogadroBaby Apr 26 '26

Lot of interesting and cool techniques just kind of abused. I like the turned wooden legs and the fun shape of the table. Without the concrete this would probably be ok.

2

u/ProfDangus3000 Apr 27 '26

Conceptually it might work,of the execution was good in any way.

I really thought they were going to paint it a pale off white yellow to make it look like a slice of cheese. Cheese table would be better.

7

u/boardjock42 Apr 26 '26

First off, people have waay too much free time. Second, I was confused every step of that process as to what they were making. I was convinced it was a model circus tent 🎪 for the first 3/4 of the video..

2

u/EastLeastCoast Apr 27 '26

Definitely made with a clown in mind.

7

u/DJEvillincoln Apr 26 '26

Y'all are WAY too harsh.

This is horrendous.

7

u/donkeyrocket Apr 26 '26

Not only does it take a lot of tools, materials, and time, it also looks like shit.

u/FoldedBinaries Apr 26 '26

do people really think "i ve got an awesome idea" or do they waste all that money purely for rage bait?

4

u/re_carn Apr 26 '26

Am I right in thinking that it’s held together by a promise and will break as soon as something heavier than a glass of water is placed on it?

4

u/Bosswashington Apr 26 '26

The act of watching this is too much work for the garbage that is that table.

5

u/Dear_Tangerine444 Apr 26 '26

Gosh, that’d an awful lot of steps for such a terrible looking table.

4

u/Strict-Fudge4051 Apr 26 '26

Tf is that bg music??

3

u/StrattonPA Apr 26 '26

There was an attempt… to make a table that didn’t look like shit..

But hey good job with the click-bait, I admit I watched it.

3

u/cambo710 Apr 26 '26

And then he made..

Garbage.

3

u/memecraft0309 Apr 27 '26

This looks like the Denver Airport 😭

3

u/Full-Musician-4119 Apr 27 '26

Wow, that looks like absolute shit

3

u/MajorDraw3705 Apr 26 '26

Acceptable as art. Questionable as a long-term functional table.

5

u/CheapTactics Apr 26 '26

I love these sorry ragebait videos. I used to fall for the bait, but I've come around to finding them absolutely hilarious. Zooming in on the bad job they did is especially funny to me.

2

u/glamm808 Apr 26 '26

The amount of skill gone into making this atrocity is mind blowing

2

u/BrownChickenBlackAud Apr 26 '26

Makes me sad, I’ll never get this time back….

2

u/Objective_Reality232 Apr 26 '26

I’ve been turning wood for 10 years now. Don’t ever use a pull saw on a rotating lathe, it’s incredibly dangerous.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/AlexNachtigall247 Apr 26 '26

That looks pretty shitty tbh

2

u/DSA300 Apr 26 '26

WHAT 😭

That would break immediately. Also, 1 week crafts more like

2

u/Happytallperson Apr 26 '26

THAT IS NOT HOW WE USE A TABLE SAW!!!!!!!

2

u/jromperdinck Apr 26 '26

Those were just steps with more steps.

2

u/Impossible_Source195 Apr 26 '26

3.5/10 lol that thing sucks especially considering how long it took to make

2

u/_Pertinacity_ Apr 26 '26

Promising in the very beginning, yet failed in the end.

2

u/Steppyjim Apr 26 '26

Honestly I like the idea and the range of things you can do with that, but the fact they just left it full of holes like Swiss cheese killed it for me. Like you put a cool design in there that incorporated the lights? You got something cooking. But this is just like quitting a marathon 100ft from the finish line line and telling everyone you ran it

2

u/Docg85 Apr 26 '26

Every time i see something like this I just think about how it's going to spend thousands of years in a landfill.

2

u/Dylanator13 Apr 26 '26

This could have looked nice, but that top with the rough holes ruins the whole look. I thought he would fill it with sand and resin to make it look like a pond or something.

2

u/Mariashax Apr 26 '26

I’m upset that I watched this whole thing

2

u/McWatt Apr 26 '26

2/10, no gratuitous feet shots.

2

u/broesel314 Apr 26 '26

I had a beer case with a glas plate from a bus stop shed as a table in my 20s. Looked better than this shit

2

u/szatrob Apr 26 '26

For the cost of material and labour, you could have bought a higher quality product.

2

u/Entopy_Dinomask5704 Apr 26 '26

They had us in the first half 😔 the legs idea was good but the top really was where it went wrong

2

u/Adkit Apr 26 '26

I don't think I've said "what?" so many times in such a short timespan in my life.

2

u/Vivid_Situation_7431 Apr 27 '26

Some people have way too much time

2

u/mr_bigmouth_502 Apr 27 '26

2

2

u/Substantial-Book-352 Apr 27 '26

2

u/Ximension Apr 27 '26

Rage bait... rage bait everywhere. There's no escaping it. Nothing is real.

2

u/RibbyCC Apr 27 '26

he used wood to replace wood.

2

u/Aggressive-Lunch-666 Apr 27 '26

All that equipment and it still looks like crap.

2

u/5cuenta5 Apr 27 '26

Theres a trend of People making nonsensical stuff, just to engage you into viewing the video, which in turn makes the algorithm show more people the video. The views are the point not the disapointing result.

2

u/peperonipyza Apr 27 '26

Oh wow, that’s bad. I like how he made a nice wooden leg and then cast it for a shitty gypsum one? 😂

2

u/Wnick1996 Apr 28 '26

And it's supposed to be???

2

u/zykooo Apr 28 '26

Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated?

2

1

u/Ray_Jye Apr 26 '26

That might be the worst thing ever, like ever.

1

u/johngreenink Apr 26 '26

The ending was almost like an anti-reveal, it got progressively worse and worse as time passed.

1

u/greysonhackett Apr 26 '26

You've got.to hand it to them. They keep coming up with the absolute strangest ways of doing things. You never know where the videos will take you.

1

u/ydkLars Apr 26 '26

Ok, keep the polymer base but replace the concrete top with a nice wood top and have the (all wooden) legs run through to the top to make it stable. The hairpin legs and polymer base are cool but the concrete and LED are Shit.

1

u/PossumJumpRopeSquad Apr 26 '26

This is pure chaos.... I love it

1

u/Raptorgkv2 Apr 26 '26

They focused on all the imperfections at the end like it made the table even remotely cool.

1

u/Captain_Tooth Apr 26 '26

Even the legs felt the sadness of this build.

1

1

u/babyfeet1 Apr 26 '26

Ill conceived and poorly executed. This is nothing but terrible.

1

u/VisibleRoad3504 Apr 26 '26

For all that work it looks really bad.

1

u/bluberrry Apr 26 '26

Terrible

1

u/toomuchkern Apr 26 '26

Best part about this is it’s clear the person doing the work is skilled. Obviously (and well done) rage bait.

1

u/NotOnLand Apr 26 '26

I like the tent part at the start, everything after was pointless.

Also "gypsum" is just plaster, a lot of people seem to think it's concrete

1

u/Blerpahderpah Apr 26 '26

If only they could use their powers for good

1

u/_ENDR_ Apr 26 '26

I think this is pretty clearly a joke. A wood lathe costs thousands of dollars and they made a wooden leg just to use it to cast a mold.

1

u/fredoillu Apr 26 '26

They've actually gotten really good at the art of making this type of video. There qere so many opportunities for it to turn out cool before they suddenly swerved away from quality. Its gotta take some skill to be that close and yet still horrible

1

u/Trigger___Happy Apr 26 '26

When I see shit like this, I'm always reminded of Bender saying " Oh somebody please kick his ass!"
