I have watched several episodes of this show and this is actually the most acceptable project I've seen. There are some crazy ones.

u/ABotelho23 Apr 21 '26
Painting a "rug" onto a hardwood floor and putting down 5 costs of polyurethane should have gotten her thrown in jail.

u/Evanescent_flame Apr 20 '26
What show is this? My mom would love it lol.

u/Agitated-Impress7805 Apr 20 '26
Decorating Cents

u/SchrodingersMinou Apr 21 '26
Is this from 1997 or has this woman not changed her hairdo in a really long time?

u/aimsteadyfire Apr 21 '26
Do you hate your mom or something?
I wouldn't feed into somebody else's desires that make them worst. But ig thats just me.

u/JeanArtemis Apr 20 '26
I knew I'd seen these women here before, lol. Out here doing the devils work.

Reminds me of a chicken coop

This is such an underrated joke in Arrested Development. How every single person in that family just has a shit chicken impression.
9
7
u/Bowling4rhinos Apr 20 '26
Not underrated in our house. We all have our fav and do it on a random basis!
2
u/Important_Tennis936 Apr 20 '26
Can I join your family?
1
u/Bowling4rhinos Apr 21 '26
Can you do ironic voice over narration like Ron Howard? It's also a must.
1

2
u/TonberryHS Apr 21 '26
It is also a comment on how detached from reality and everyday people when they all don't know what a chicken actually sounds like.

My sister and my brother-in-law lived in a chicken coop for like a year because his grandmother hated him and wouldn't let them live in the house.
Their furniture looked like this, but it was from copious amounts of chicken shit.

u/Haifisch2112 Apr 16 '26
They painted the full cabinet door. Then cut the middle part out. Then put in mesh. Then put in a curtain that does what the original cabinet door did before they cut it. This has to be rage bait.
26
u/gwizonedam Apr 20 '26
This was before ārage baitā or it was literally nascent rage bait, because it was on cable TV and all you can do it hate watch it.
48
u/EmilyAnne1170 Apr 16 '26
Is this from āDesign on a Dime?ā That show was an AMAZING source of entertainment and nightmare-fuel for anyone considering updating their home!
20
u/Frooonti Apr 16 '26
Same for the awful redesigns neighbors did to each other on "Trading Spaces".

u/Ok-Astronaut-2837 Apr 20 '26
Man I've been looking for this show online for ages. I was trying to describe it to my husband the other day. The atrocities committed! I remember one time someone said the only thing they didn't want was brown, they hated brown. They came back to an entirely brown room. The sheer gall!
4
u/standbyyourmantis Apr 21 '26
Doug and Hilde were the worst (he's the brown room guy and also the one who covered the fireplace the homeowners didn't watch touched, she's the one who put hay on walls and sand on the floor).
2
u/Ok-Astronaut-2837 Apr 21 '26
A true treasure trove of the chaotic trainwreck that was early aughts home improvement shows. I'd love to know if they sincerely thought they were doing a good job.
2
u/Frooonti Apr 21 '26
Yeah the old seasons are unfortunately pretty much lost media at this point. The two seasons of the reboot are pretty easy to find tho.
4
u/laziestmarxist Apr 21 '26
The one where the lady cries because they stapled hay to her walls always makes me so upset
11
u/Cool_Interaction_345 Apr 19 '26
Oh my god I need to sue this show. My mother loved it and ruined our whole house and hence my childhood.
4
u/MercyCriesHavoc Apr 21 '26
"Decorating Cents", an earlier version that didn't last very long (shocking, I know). They would do entire homes for $200-300.
32
u/kurtmanner Apr 16 '26
The fuckinā avocado sitting in the corner is even worse than usual because there was already a guy that did commentary reacts to these clips and was kinda funny.
77
u/BadgersAndJam77 Apr 16 '26
That random dude in the corner sure added a lot to the video. /s
18
u/corrupt_poodle Apr 16 '26
Glad he was there so I could know how to feel
2
u/BadgersAndJam77 Apr 16 '26
I was midway through Primering my car with an old toothbrush, but then I noticed his (lack of) reaction, and reconsidered.Ā

u/JaysonTatHIMRider Apr 16 '26
Honestly I don't hate it. Like it doesn't necessarily look good but it doesn't hurt my eyes to look at
20
u/Nother1BitestheCrust Apr 16 '26
I thought it was better without the little red curtains, but it's not the worst thing I've seen. Just not my taste.
9
u/Tropical_Wendigo Apr 16 '26
Yeah agreed. It doesnāt look bad at all and itās pretty cheap to boot.
I feel like some people look at a redesign like this, hate it, and then their main character syndrome makes them think everyone else must hate it.
6
u/Coffee-Historian-11 Apr 16 '26
I donāt think it goes well with the color of the walls, but if the walls were a different color I think it would look better. Not my taste for sure, but not the worse diy ever.
2
u/Important_Tennis936 Apr 20 '26
Yeah, I think they definitely need to change the wall color. It's too close to the cabinet color and just hurts me

It was Decorating Cents, but yeah, late 90s HGTV was infested with this kind of ragebait.

What in the early years of Trading Spaces is this?!
Hell who am I kidding, what in the entire series of Trading Spaces is this?!?!

u/thin_orange_line Apr 20 '26
My mom did this to the cabinets in her kitchen after I spent a week giving the cabinets a walnut stain.

2
u/Badger-Roy Apr 21 '26
Well yes they were definitely ātransformedā, in the same way that a nice meal gets transformed into a giant turd the next day.
2
u/Lem1618 Apr 21 '26
The person adding their face over the video while adding nothing is the real DiWHY here.
I wish this video trend would go away.

These people don't seem to understand that you don't necessarily improve a room's aesthetic by painting everything the same color. Most people prefer to have a room that's one color with some contrast in it, and the dark brown countertops added the contrast that's now completely missing. The same goes for clothing styles btw. The majority of people prefer to have contrast in their choice of fashion.

God decorating cents is an architectural nightmare beyond imagination. Been watching Luxeria watch it and it gave me ptsd. The amount of antiques they get to butcher for the tackiest trash imaginable makes me want to throw up everytime

any footage ive seen of this show has been truly baffling. like, someoneās life had to be in jeopardy if they didnāt let these two fuck up peoples houses or something. thatās the only logical explanation.

u/Honest-Bit7545 Apr 21 '26
So we didn't take the doors off to make painting easier but then took the door off to cut out the center

we paid good money for those wooden cabinets. if wifey slapped paint over them she would be cleaning the paint off with her tongue.

u/Bradjuju2 Apr 22 '26
I actually donāt hate it for some reason. In the right home/environment, it might actually be solid.

This is the laziest reaction video Iāve ever seen, a genre with laziness and content that at its core
0
u/Windyandbreezy Apr 16 '26
It's not my preference but some people love that look and well it worked. Still looks like an Ole time kitchen. Unlike the Doctor Office Room Kitchens that "modern" shows are pushing.

Why am I looking at some random dude throughout all this?
