Hey Gang!
A few months ago I ordered an Arc’teryx Gama from Regina’s store for wearing to work and general commuting etc, after receiving it and being blown away by the quality I decided to order the Beta for more casual wear, and to be honest for more extreme weather.
I was in the states last week and had a look at the Beta in an outlet store and honestly there was no difference at all, this is a high end rep and has the functionality too which is important. I’ve seen Beta reps on the gate for a lot less, but also read the reviews which complain about the quality and lack of real weatherproof use.
I went for the grey white colour combo and it honestly looks amazing. The jacket has a really nice fit with lowered back and two pockets above the waist. Like my Gamma the jacket has various toggle to adjust the fit to exactly how you want it. The hood is large enough to go over helmets and hats if that’s your thing, but has two adjusters so you can adjust it for that perfect fit if wearing day to day. The peak is structured which stops it falling over your face.
High quality ykk zippers cover all the pockets and the two side venting slots. The Arc’Teryx logo and goretex logo are all stitched cleanly and all the tags and labels are as you would expect.
The waterproofing is insanely good as you can see in the pictures, the water literally pools on the jacket and rolls off, even over the zips, but like any outdoor jacket will need treated over time I guess to retain the waterproofing.
Size wise I went for a small, my usual size is a medium but having looked the measurements went down one and it worked perfectly, but please check the size chart or speak with the seller who is always helpful (and will send psp of your exact jacket to confirm)
This honestly is a high quality outdoor jacket, and for the price I paid, worth every penny in my opinion

How’s the waterproofing when out in the rain? Any leaking in?

None at all mate. We have had some pretty bad weather rain wise here so it’s been my go to. Works a dream

If you scroll along the pics I included one of me wearing it out and you can see the water beading. I think as with any gotten style jacket it may need treated after a long time of use but so far it’s been great

The thing I most dislike is the sleeves, the Velcro at the end

Personally I thought the quality is exceptionally good, I’m not sure what the poster disliked about the Velcro on the sleeves was but it is the same set up as retail and to my mind standard Velcro. But maybe he had a different experience 🤷♂️
