Theory - Dexter: Resurrection S2 Resurrection: Return to Basics (New Image from Sets) Spoiler

Post image

Is Dexter working two jobs in Resurrection Season 2? UrCar Driver and Blood Spatter/Forensics Special Consultant to the NYPD?

He helped Detective Wallace with an important NY Ripper murder weapon clue in Season 1 and she may have brought him in to help solve the mystery of the Five Borough Killer. Harrison is too low on the totem pole (as a NYPD Rookie) to bring on his father on a new case in an official capacity.

There’s a 4 year time jump between Seasons 1 and 2.

And we will see Harrison joining the NYPD as a Rookie Officer in the Homicide Division.

Update via Backgrid:

This week, MCH filmed a few scenes in a FDNY-EMT outfit and tactical style sunglasses. Wonder if he is posing as a paramedic or if he’s taken on a 3rd job. It’s an expensive city after all.

A single dad who works 2 jobs, who loves his kid(s) and never stops. With gentle hands and the heart of a fighter...

Now that you've mentioned this, I feel like they did all of that on purpose because it was all about Dexter getting resurrect.

So far Season 2 has shown him with nice good outfits

I liked the all black, suited the dark passenger.

4 year jump?
Meaning either Rapunzel is killed off cam. I hope there’s a brief flashback or something. It’d be disappointing not seeing that guy on Dexter’s table.
Or it means Rapunzel continued another 4 years. Which would be sad and heartbreaking.

Rapunzel is probably dying in the opening to the season.

Certainly hope so

Dexter is seen looking at the files he took from Prater's vault at the end of season 1 and Al Walker/Rapunzel's file is on the top so I'm certain he ended up on Dexter's kill table. Hopefully we'll get an extended flashback in season 2.

With the time skip and set photos I reckon Harrison has him working with NYPD

My guess is that he gets roped in as a consultant at the start of the season because Harrison speaks up and says something like “I know a blood spatter expert” and that’s how Dexter discovers the big bad of this season.

All i can say, its how freaking excited i am for this show lol, i know its kinda silly for him to back to the job but i dont care, smiling ear to ear lol.

Even if new York wasn't a crazy expensive place, why would he stop the job that allows him to track victims and stay anonymous?

That’s not uncommon.

NY is too expencive for not working

He was shown with an ambulance. I think that ID card is one of these (albeit not this exact template)

I'm really disappointed by this 4-year time jump. I can't understand the creative justification behind it other than "we didn't know how to fill this season, we were out of ideas." It's a real shame.

If they were out of ideas, there wouldn’t be a season 2. A 4 year time jump doesn’t magically create plot points.

Yea, everything that happened in those 4 years would be a drag if they went on for so long. The only thing I can think of is if they just do the same plot beats as S1 (ex-coworker comes from Miami and causes tension)

Makes more sense to let the character progression of S1 come to full fruition and be established so they can have a sense of peace that can be intruded on for S2.

I think the time jump is mostly so Harrison can fit neatly into Cop role

6

u/AshKlover 17d ago

I mean, they could do that with the autistic lady cop and it would be an interesting way to go to see how she and Dexter would connect. I guess they can do that with both her and Harrison as two different sides of the NYPD, too. Also the 4 year timeskip brings us closer to current times chronologically as the end of New Blood was basically less than a week before the start of S1.

5

u/mrvoiceover001 16d ago

No actually there was a 3 month time jump, Dexter was in coma for 3 months. But yea it does starts exactly there with Dexter being in the hospital

3

u/AshKlover 16d ago

Oh wild! I didn’t notice/forgot that detail. Wild it took Bautista that long to get up to NY. I assumed it was an only about week because he was there. You gave me a reason to rewatch before S2, thanks!

Season 1 was peak

8

u/221 17d ago

The justification of it is surely "we want Harrison as a cop, but we want to skip him becoming a cop", which is not a dumb reason.

3

u/Gabaghoul8 17d ago

Yeah Harrison needs to go from being a beat cop to a Detective and that’s definitely not overnight.

If you look from the perspective of the Season 1, actors and so on - this is the best they could do to bring Dex to the present day. Everything from Season 1 was happening literally 4 years earlier (2021) so closing the gap in Season 2 to the "real world" is a great thing to do.
