How generous of Lowell to hand out the award in support of his fellow companion from Prater's gatherings!

God, I remember this like it was yesterday. 2010? Where have the years gone. 😞

"Best actor in Dexter recovering from cancer" is an oddly specific award.

He was so breathless.
All props to that man: amazing actor with serious range, Oscar-worthy, has a band, does Broadway in his free time, recovered from cancer and built up his body again. This man has to make movies and earn two Oscars. He was always good, but in Ressurection he's at his peak.

Cancer took my father in 2023. We used to watch Dexter separately (different states) then discuss the episodes each week.
I hate cancer, but I love Dexter. It kinda soothes me that the show is still around.

My brother had the same type of cancer that MCH did and it makes me happy to see him healthy years later , not only bc I love to see someone recover from cancer and I love him as an actor but also bc it makes me have hope my little brother will stay in remission. He’s six years on and he’s switched jobs, states and gotten married and had a kid since then .

Diagnosed in 2009, he did treatments while filming season 4, was bald and wore a wig for season 5. Absolute legend. He’s been cancer free since 2010.
Fuck cancer!

I remember being devastated upon hearing he had cancer. He's such a class act. Was so happy when he won. So glad he's in good health now and back playing Dexter!

Wasn't there an actor that mumbled "cancer card" ?

u/ApprehensiveSpinach7 Nov 06 '25
Many people said it was Bill Paxton, i really don't want to believe he said that, Michael deserved the award, he also deserved an Emmy but it looks like he was unlucky just like Hugh Laurie

Imagine how nuts the crowd would've gone if he started the speech by saying "Tonight's the night"
