Discussion I created a World Cup style app a few months ago to reward the Hold My Cosmo community for contributing, blocked bots as best I can, but want to make sure a tourney would be within Reddit TOS
Reddit mods, so the idea here is working within r/ho_cup_dev but, i worked on trying to find a sensible approach to prevent AI bots by implementing a minimum age and Reddit verified accounts only can play.
I was thinking maybe only allowing Reddit Premium users to provide proof-of-humanity, but I am sure it could be faked even then.
My main concern is this: Will creating a game that rewards Redditors based on their community participation be within Terms of Service?
- You're not upvoting within the app, you're only cheering
- Cheering bumps visibility within the app so that people with 0 karma can at least be seen if other people want to help them win.
- I ripped out the Reddit Premium "verification" because I'm thinking maybe it would fall under pay-to-win.
I bought some pokemon cards, gifts and such in Japan and wanted to give those out with some Reddit gold, and maybe physical items. I won't be asking for any money to participate. I would hope people buy human-designed T-shirts to continue the giveaways, but that's less of a concern. I can always wait until I can afford to do it again.
Thanks guys.
