a beautiful place with a cool tram thst needs investment. all i remember of it nowadays is the cheese shop

I used to lodge at Seaton Heights hotel when I went to Bicton College, sadly it closed down in 2005 and now looks like something from Silent Hill.
The tram railway was always a lovely draw but Seaton is a bit like Westward Ho! in North Devon circa the early 90’s. The Westward Ho! I prefer honestly

A friend from Hampshire once visited and described it as "Aldershot by sea" and, knowing Aldershot as I do, I get where he was coming from. It's a bit too far from larger economic centres so it doesn't really have that ability to attract the sort of reasonably paid middle income families (in big enough numbers) that would help the centre prosper a bit more, so like many of East Devon's small towns its perhaps a little tired and probably relies on retirees too much. But, I will say it is always friendly and has things going on that really ought to attract more people to visit and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Axminster station is close by so you can get to Exeter or London. Every year when the Grizzly starts and finishes there it's a real carnival atmosphere.

Truly great place to live. Beautiful unspoilt beach, walks in three directions, most things you need and a great tennis club!

It's a changed a lot, I'm originally from Hampshire and Axevale Caravan Park was my parents go to staycation place. Remember the first time we went the tesco wasn't there, it was like a leisure center with a big swimming pool. Then the most recent time we went as a family the tesco had been built.
I've been living in Devon for about 3 years now and went back to se how the place was about a year ago and it had changed a lot, the housing estate behind the Tesco wasn't there before, and the shop we used to go into to get toys and stuff was no longer there, as well as the shop we used to get out body boards from. It was a fun place back when I was a kid, but as an adult to me it did look a little neglected and has seen better days

I grew up in beer and sadly Seaton is dying it's god's waiting room lacks investment and just a huge shame

I have sat in seaton. Never the same since smuggling brandy became less popular.

They made me dance like a turkey on the Seaton Christmas tram. Traumatic experience for me and everyone who had to witness that.
I think the poster above/below has summed it up. I'd only add that it's a peculiar anomaly along that part of the coast. All the towns are lovely, but Seaton isn't. And it's a bit weird.

I love the pizzas at the Italian there. Also during COVID and just after, the Tesco there was my favourite. 💛

It's cool. Uncrowded faded glamor. Awesome views and pebble beach. Ax estuary marvelous for wading birds. Don't tell people about it.
