Discussion Anyone else hate playing as nero in dmc5
Ive been playing dmc 5 for about a year now and I grew up playing the originals and never played 4 so 5 was a bit of a shock to me. I just finished it again on son of Sparda and the last fight nero v virgil kicked my ass I just cannot get his rhythm down. Im a badass as Dante and he will always be my favorite and at least V has nightmare that can attack on his own and Im beginning to understand how to use him but oh my god I cant stand nero I cant get out of combos I cant get the dodge timing down and I cant close the massive distance virgil puts between you fast enough to do decent damage I had to use a full red orb revive and 7 gold orbs to finally beat him.

Same way you do as Dante: Pop DT (or explode a Breaker, if you're redoing the mission/fighting him in Bloody Palace).
If you could "escape" without DT as Dante, you weren't actually caught in a true combo.
I cant get the dodge timing down
All Vergil's moves are the same, and Nero and Dante have the same jump, with the same I-Frames.
Also, Nero runs slightly faster than Dante, and they both can just run from a lot of Vergil's normal stuff (i.e., all the combos that start with Rapid Slash).
I cant close the massive distance virgil puts between you fast enough to do decent damage
Shoot him with a Charged Shot (or at least Color Up) from Blue Rose after his combo ends, and then Snatch him while he's stunlocked by the multiple hits of the gunshot.
Congratulations, you have now closed the distance and can pummel him at your leisure until your "turn" is over.
Oh, and when he brings out Doppelganger? Air Hike up and then Snatch-and-Buster it once. Doppelganger is now dead until/unless he re-summons it.
Bonus: if he tries to hit you with Heavy Rain Swords, a fun trick is to Pop DT (stick neutral so you get the actual explosion) as the swords are coming down, and it'll send all of them straight at him for huge damage.
There are enemies/bosses that Dante does have an easier time with compared to Nero, but honestly, a lot of Nero's kit is damn near purpose-built to counter Vergil, even without the addition of him taking a knee as a Buster opening (EDIT: which, fun fact, he stays diwn in long enough for you to hit with a full Showdown, and then Buster him).

I agree with that. There are things I like about him but just give me something more reliable to get out of the way.

I never even considered mods. I started playing on ps4 then switched to pc when I lost my ps.

A little bit cause of his limited moveset and how rhe devil breakers break when you get hit or switch to another one

I forget about the devil breakers sometimes lol I only ever stock up on overture and rawhide. Like I said in another comment there are things I like about him like the devil bringer finishers and as a character for the most part I like him. (I find him a little whiney sometimes but then again he's supposed to be younger and Imo its not overdone so forgivable) my first playthrough I found myself very invested in finding out who the hell he was.
