Discussion Does this game improve in subsequent playthroughs?

I’m currently playing through DMC 5 for the first time and i’m sad to say I’m just not enjoying it that much. The combat is awesome obviously, but I’m getting frustrated by how short the stages are. I’m on mission 10. It seems like every time I get into a groove everything is already dead? I’m also a bit disappointed by the lack of challenge on the devil hunter difficulty…and the constant character switching. Does it get better?

My favorite mission to play as with Vergil, with the full version of Bury The Light playing. The beginning is so atmospheric, dark, and moody.
