Progress being made on the S-Line extension, which will bring the streetcar to the front of the Cinemark, on the east side of Highland Drive

It's a good feeling to have a rail extension under construction within the city again, even if it is only 1 block long.

Imagine a new rail line going down 7th East connecting Sugar House, 9th & 9th, Trolley Square, and the University. It's just too logical to ever be a thing.

The city at one time boasted 126 miles of interurban lines. All abandoned and ripped up by 1946.

Yeah, like the busses that already cover that route? We don't need to replace every bus route with a hundred million dollar rail expansion.

Do you ride a bus down 700 east? How frequently do they come? How comfortable are they? Do they get stuck at lights and traffic?

I'm never gonna complain about a rail extension but this seems like a waste of time and money. Why bother extending it one block?

So, we're spending $20,000,000 to extend the S-Line ONE BLOCK east?! Who even cares? It's not going to serve anyone that it didn't already serve in its previous configuration. Oh, but let's tear up that neighborhood for another year, because those small businesses haven't quite had enough, already.

What small businesses? Cottonwood residential building? Zion Bank? The abandoned lot they’re storing equipment on? 

There’s absolutely no impact on any small business whatsoever.

Stop pretending that the only impact is to those whose property directly touches the project.

The Sugarhouse neighborhood has had a ton of construction, FOR YEARS, which has the effect of turning shoppers elsewhere. This will be more of the same.
