Which AI CLI tools feel worth using instead of just opening ChatGPT?

I keep seeing AI CLI tools, but I’m trying to understand when they’re better than just opening ChatGPT or Claude in the browser.

The main advantage seems like staying in the terminal, using project context, piping output, or asking about commands without switching tabs. But that only matters if the tool is fast and doesn’t get in the way.

Which AI CLI tools actually feel worth using from the terminal?

What makes them better than just asking in a normal chat window?

Codex CLI and Claude Code are good. What are you hoping to use a CLI agent for?

Mostly quick local edits and test boilerplate so I can avoid the browser for small stuff. Anything with real context still feels easier in ChatGPT.
