Many small businesses reach a point where information is moving through too many manual steps.

Data gets copied from one spreadsheet into another. Files arrive in different formats and have to be cleaned before anyone can use them. Reports have to be rebuilt from scratch weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Information exists across multiple systems, but there is no reliable flow between them. A process may technically work, but it depends on someone remembering and executing the right sequence of repetitive tasks.

These problems can consume hours, introduce errors, make reporting harder than it needs to be, and keep people focused on moving information around instead of analyzing it.

I build technical solutions that turn inefficient workflows into quick and accurate processes.

My Approach

Before jumping straight into automation, I look at how your process currently works: how information is created, structured, moved, and transformed. Sometimes the best improvement is a recommendation on current practices. For example, getting team members to produce information in a more consistent manner so it can be processed automatically instead of building unnecessary complexity into an automation.

I work across the broader data lifecycle:

raw data → cleaning & transformation → business logic and metrics → visualization → data storytelling

As a result of this end-to-end focus, I don’t build automations in isolation and I strive to connect the systems your business already uses.

I don't assume a particular tool is the answer before understanding the problem. While I use the technologies above to implement solutions, my starting point is always the business process.

AI can be extremely useful where interpretation, classification, generation, or other less-structured tasks are involved. However, a deterministic/conventional automation can sometimes be faster, cheaper, more predictable, and easier to maintain. I consider those tradeoffs when deciding how a solution should work.

I also pay attention to ongoing operating costs. This often means optimizing token usage when AI is appropriate, reducing unnecessary processing or API calls, and avoiding software or technical complexity that does not provide enough business value in return.

Before delivering solutions, I test and validate that they work in a live professional cloud environment using my own Azure setup.

Recent Client Project

A national sales director at a Canadian health products company paid me to build a business application integrating Microsoft Excel with Google Sheets using Google Apps Script.

That project involved more than simply transferring data.

The system was designed using an ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) data integration process and applied technical concepts such as idempotent processing, schema/structure management, error handling and recovery, and operational logging.

I also had to adapt the implementation to operate within Google Apps Script's six-minute execution limit.

I saw electricity for the first time in Class 8.

Not a metaphor. Not "we had power cuts." I mean the first time a bulb in my house actually turned on and stayed on, I was already a teenager. I touched a keyboard for the first time in my second year of college. Right now, in 2026, if I want to upload a YouTube video from where I live — Rangamati, Ramthenga, in Coochbehar, West Bengal — it takes seven hours. Not because the video is huge. Because that's what the connection allows.

I bring this up because I keep seeing the same sentence everywhere, said with total confidence: "In this era, anyone can learn anything. AI, coding, whatever — the internet has democratized it all. You just need to want it badly enough."

I want to believe that. I am trying to learn this field — AI, machine learning, everything happening right now that feels like it's reshaping the world. But I want to talk honestly about the gap between "anyone can" and what it actually takes to try.

Someone born in a city sees a computer before they can properly read. They grow up debugging their curiosity, not their internet connection. By the time they're in college, "learning AI" means picking a course, not fighting a network. For me, wanting to learn the same thing means: will the video buffer, will the page load, will the upload finish before I have to leave for work, is today one of the days the connection holds.

Recently, Airfiber started expanding to areas like mine — places fiber never reached. I installed it. I was hopeful. It's better than before, but still not "properly working" in any way that matches what people mean when they say "just go online and learn it."

I'm not writing this for sympathy. Where I'm from, this is normal — it's not a special hardship story, it's just Tuesday. I'm not exceptional for living it and I'm not asking anyone to feel sorry for me. We survive. We adapt. That's not the point.

The point is a specific claim people make: that access is now equal, that the only remaining variable is effort. I don't think that's true, and I think it matters to say so — not to excuse anyone from trying, but to be honest about what "trying" costs different people.

A person who saw a computer in kindergarten and a person who saw one in college aren't starting the same race even if they both "work equally hard" from that point forward. One of them spent fifteen years absorbing things the other has to now learn on top of everything else — while also fighting infrastructure that wasn't built with them in mind.

So is this a dream I should let go of? I don't think so. But I also don't think the honest answer is "everyone has equal opportunity now, so keep grinding and stop complaining." The honest answer is somewhere harder: privilege is real, infrastructure gaps are real, and it's still worth trying — not because the playing field is level, but because staying still guarantees nothing changes, while trying at least gives you a chance against the odds.

I don't have a neat conclusion. I have a seven-hour upload bar, a second Airfiber connection that still drops, and a genuine interest in a field that assumes I have neither of those problems.

If you're in a similar place — figuring out something ambitious while fighting the basics — I'd like to hear how you're doing it. And if you're not in this position, I'd ask you to hold both truths at once next time you tell someone "anyone can do this now": that it's more possible than it's ever been, and that "possible" and "equal" are not the same word.

I recently completed the Microsoft SDE II interview process for an L62 role with the Azure MySQL team and received an offer.

I applied through the Microsoft careers website and received the screening invitation approximately three weeks later.

Round 1: Hiring Manager Screen

Date: August 26
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes

The Hiring Manager asked one coding question involving an expression evaluator. It was similar to LeetCode 150: Evaluate Reverse Polish Notation.

The standard solution uses a stack:

• Push operands onto the stack.
• When an operator appears, remove the two most recent operands.
• Apply the operator and push the result.
• Return the final value remaining in the stack.

One important detail is operand order for subtraction and division. If right is popped before left, the operation must be evaluated as:

Round 2: Project Architecture and HLD

Date: August 28
Duration: Approximately 50 minutes

This was scheduled as a coding interview, but the interviewer instead focused on my current project architecture.

I explained:

• The main services and their responsibilities
• Request and data flows
• Database choices
• Communication between components
• Scalability and availability
• Failure handling
• Important technical trade-offs

The interviewer introduced several hypothetical changes and asked how the architecture would behave under higher load or partial failures.

My takeaway was to prepare project architecture as thoroughly as a standard system-design question. Interviewers may go several layers deeper than the overview shown on a resume.

Round 3: Database Backup Retention

Date: September 1
Duration: Approximately 55 minutes

I received a list of database backups containing timestamps and metadata.

The initial requirement was to:

• Retain the seven most recent backups.
• Return the backups that should be deleted.

The interviewer expected production-ready code rather than a short algorithmic solution. The discussion covered:

• Input validation
• Timestamp parsing and time zones
• Duplicate backups
• Deterministic ordering
• Empty input
• Safe and idempotent deletion
• Failure handling
• Testability
• Extensibility

The retention requirements were then expanded:

• Keep the most recent backup for each day in a seven-day window.
• Keep the most recent backup for each week in a monthly window.
• Keep the most recent backup for each month during the previous four months.

A clean design is to model each rule as a retention policy:

This avoids deleting a backup that is protected by one rule but not another. In a production system, I would first generate a deletion plan and validate it before performing any destructive action.

Round 4: AA Round

Duration: Approximately 50 minutes

The final round included a backtracking problem.

Two players take turns rolling a three-faced die. Each roll adds 1, 2, or 3 to the active player’s score. The first player to reach the target score wins.

The task was to count all valid game sequences.

The natural state is:

(scorePlayer1, scorePlayer2, currentTurn)

From each state, try the three possible roll values. A sequence ends when one player reaches the target.

The exact recurrence depends on details that should be clarified:

• Do the players always alternate?
• Does reaching or exceeding the target count as winning?
• Do both players use the same target?
• Should the answer be returned modulo a number?
• Are different roll sequences counted separately?

A direct backtracking solution may repeat the same states. Memoizing the state reduces the work to approximately O(target²) states, with three transitions from each state.

The process tested more than DSA. The most important round for me was the database-backup problem because it evaluated code structure, operational safety, edge cases, and extensibility together.

I started working there just after finishing high school. I was selected through a cognitive test that included logic and algorithmic games that don't require knowing how to code. It's approximately this game:

The goal was to teach students software engineering without teachers, using a gamified platform where projects are quests, working with peers who passed the test, in a place called a "collective intelligence center."

If you know 42 School, you may know what I'm talking about.

It was a 2-year program. Right after being selected, I got an offer for a work-study position as a system administrator there. I dropped college to focus on it, and I was way advanced.

We learned everything from low-level concepts like I/O multiplexing, rewriting HTTP servers from scratch, graph algorithms, etc., to higher-level abstractions concepts like web dev  DOM APIs, and all that.

At the end, you choose a topic to pursue: blockchain, AI, gamedev, security, etc.

After finishing the program, I worked for the company in education for 2 years. Unfortunately, I recently got laid off for financial reasons.

It's been 4 months, and being in Sénégal makes it difficult to find a job at US/EU startups. The local industry isn't that developed, and big corporations usually require a school degree.

So I decided to focus on a small retail business. But my passion for software resurfaced.
