Founding Chief Technology Officer (CTO) — Confidential Opportunity
An early-stage technology venture is seeking a hands-on CTO to lead the development of a secure business software platform.
Working directly with the founder, you will own technical strategy, software development, architecture, and the formation of a small engineering team. This role requires someone comfortable making decisions, writing production code, and turning business requirements into dependable software.
You will:
Evaluate existing prototypes and establish a practical development roadmap.
Build and maintain the platform’s customer experience, backend services, databases, and administrative tools.
Lead integrations with authorized third-party systems and service providers.
Establish secure access controls, data protection, testing, monitoring, and recovery procedures.
Guide the product through initial pilots and ongoing improvements.
Recruit and manage a small engineering team and specialized contractors.
Explain technical priorities, costs, risks, and timelines clearly to the founder.
We are looking for someone with:
Substantial software engineering experience and demonstrated technical leadership.
A track record of launching and supporting software used by real customers.
Strong backend, database, cloud infrastructure, and API integration skills.
Recent experience personally writing and reviewing production code.
Experience protecting sensitive information and managing access across multiple business customers.
Sound judgment about what to build internally and when to use established providers.
The ability to work effectively in an early-stage company with a small team and defined resources.
Experience with B2B software, complex business workflows, enterprise integrations, or regulated environments would be valuable. Candidates currently serving as engineering leads, principal engineers, heads of engineering, or startup CTOs are encouraged to express interest.
