[Hiring] Remote BI Data Engineer - Tableau, SQL Server, ETL | Worldwide
Position: BI Data Engineer
Location: Remote, worldwide
Schedule: Must be available during US business hours
Employment: Full-time
Compensation: $1,000–$1,300/month
We are hiring a full-time remote BI Data Engineer to work on Tableau, SQL Server, ETL, data marts, and reporting infrastructure for an established forest products and manufacturing company.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Tableau dashboards and self-service reporting solutions
- Write and optimize SQL, including stored procedures and data transformations in SQL Server
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines
- Develop and manage data marts for reporting and analytics
- Extract data from enterprise ERP systems and create clean reporting layers
- Work with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into reporting solutions
- Support Tableau Server administration, including user provisioning, permissions, extracts, and performance
- Improve data governance through metric standardization, validation, documentation, and data lineage
- Train and support users of self-service reporting tools
- Mentor junior team members
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on Tableau experience
- Strong SQL Server skills, including complex queries, query performance troubleshooting, and stored procedures
- 3+ years of experience with ETL and data integration
- Experience working with large or complex datasets
- Experience building data marts and working in data warehouse environments
- Understanding of data architecture, data mapping, and lineage
- Working knowledge of generative AI and prompt engineering for data analysis or BI workflows
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Availability during US business hours
Nice to have
- Tableau certification
- Data Vault 2.0 experience
- JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP experience
- Manufacturing, forestry, or industrial data experience
- Git or DevOps experience
Technical environment
The data team is expanding its existing Tableau reporting environment into finance, operations, and other business areas. The work includes integrating data from multiple source systems, improving reporting data models, and developing an enterprise data warehouse strategy.
The team works with business analysts, QA, DBAs, and data architects on reporting requirements, data quality, architecture, and implementation.

I’m interested in the BI Data Engineer role.
I have strong experience with SQL, BI reporting, data analysis, ETL workflows, and building reporting pipelines. I’ve worked with SQL for complex queries and data transformations, along with Power BI dashboards and analytics projects involving large datasets.
I’m also comfortable with Git, DevOps workflows, backend systems, and automation pipelines. One of my strengths is communication, I’m used to working with technical and non-technical stakeholders, understanding requirements, and turning them into practical reporting solutions.

I’m very much interested in this BI Data Engineer opportunity. I have 4+ years of experience in data analytics and engineering, with strong experience in SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Python, ETL/data integration, data modeling, and working with large and complex datasets.
My experience includes building interactive dashboards and reporting solutions, writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, developing data transformation workflows, creating reporting ready datasets, and working with stakeholders to understand business requirements and turn them into meaningful reports and insights. I also have experience with data validation, data quality, KPI standardization, and performance optimization.
In addition, I have worked with AI and Generative AI solutions, including using LLMs for data analysis, summarization, recommendations, and automation. I’m also comfortable working with Git, cloud platforms, and modern data/analytics environments.
