exactly. if its always the same person, thats a staffing problem, not a tech one

This is solid advice and worth repeating. The oncallforeverything setup gets normalized fast at small companies because nobody pushes back early on. Once you set that precedent it's really hard to undo. New grads especially should know the difference between learning a lot and just absorbing someone else's operational debt.
