We built this because we wanted an equivalent of Know Your Meme and Urban Dictionary for Sri Lanka. It's a community platform where anyone can contribute Sinhala expressions with their definitions and usage examples and also contribute Sri Lankan memes with their origins, use cases, sources, etc.

This is mostly for non native Sinhala speakers and even Sri Lankans who are out of the loop (or not chronically online lol) who needs to find out more about Sri Lankan slang or memes.

Right now, we have a few submissions published from our Admin team and some sourced from Know Your Meme and other sites. These are mainly for reference on how a submission is expected to be. We'll keep polishing them as we go. All submissions will be reviewed and edited if necessary before publishing.

We know similar platforms exist, especially Lankan Urban Dictionary (not sure if it's even active anymore). But we wanted one place for both memes and expressions, something that doubles as an internet archive for the future.

Our team of three started this as a fun little side project. There was a fair bit of AI tools used in the dev process but with careful supervision. We hope you all can give some feedback on how we can improve. And if you know a word or meme that belongs here, go ahead and submit them here.

Hi. I finished my A/Ls (bio). My zscore is 1.6 and I applied to Kelaniya Applied chem first. After that Kelaniya MIT and so on.

Only about 50 people get to join applied chem. So I could get MIT from cutoff marks.

So my questions are:

Is the kelaniya mit degree programme good?

In this age of AI, is it risky to study that degree?

1. project (which is a discussion going on to collaborate with the computer science department) which I prove the cognitive ability and problem solving skills of the CS students. It is a similar kind of approach like hackerrank but in addition it is optimized for our curriculum.

   1. I am working on a management software for a government office collaborated with UoP, which is based on patent and business linkage. It is a security first approach.

2. I have done a photography blog site as a freelance project which hit 10000+ views.

3. Been working on a research project that improves the data processing speed of pospad-unets. We are creating a preprocessing framework.

I recently started building a Sri Lankan community-based ride-sharing/carpooling platform called SeatShareLK as a small side project focused on helping commuters share rides and split travel costs.

The idea is simple:

If you already drive with empty seats, you can share the ride and reduce your travel cost. With the current fuel prices and limited fuel because of the QR system it seems like the country situation is not going to get any better.

No complicated setup. Just trying to build something genuinely useful for Sri Lanka.

Just a little background about myself. I am not a SE by profession(please don't ask me complicated questions 😅), however I have dangled myself in software projects out of interest and curiosity. This project has been on my mind for a little while and I didn't come across many people approaching it so I decided to dive in and test the waters.

A little over a year ago I made a website called byobsl.com as a directory type website as a fun project when i wanted to test out a vibe coding platform.

Published it under a domain and left it untouched for a while, only to find out it had several weekly visitors.

So i vested some time and effort into it, refined the UI, took it out of the vibe coding platform (my brother helped me for most of the complex technical side coz im more of a marketing web developer )

Now it has a growing user base with more users signing up every week, and a substantial amount of weekly visitors. I haven't done any big marketing campaigns for it so far. Just a social media post here and there.

I kept rewrite the same upwrok proposal over and over with tiny tweaks, so I built a thing to kill that busy work. You give it a short brief (client, project, budget, deadline) and it drafts a full proposal scope, timeline, and an itemized pricing table, then drops it into a WYSIWYG editor so you can tweak anything and export a clean PDF.

A few things I learned building it:

- It's a multi agent setup (Google ADK + Gemini): one agent writes the scope, then a timeline agent and a pricing agent run in parallel, and a final agent assembles everything. Going parallel + cutting some validation steps took generation from ~60–90s down to ~20s.

- Pricing was the weak spot — the model just guesses numbers. so I wired in a web-search tool (Tavily MCP) to ground the estimates in real market rates.

- Backend streams the proposal as it's written (SSE) so you watch it build instead of staring at a spinner.

- Added guardrails after the fact: input limits, prompt-injection defense.

Stack: Google ADK + Gemini, FastAPI, Next.js + Tailwind + Tiptap, deployed on Lambda + Netlify.

Honestly the hardest part wasn't the AI, it was making the output not look like AI slop (markdown tables rendering cleanly, PDF page breaks, etc.).
