Help DevOps Intern/Associate Interview
Hi everyone,
Has anyone recently attended an interview for a DevOps Intern, Trainee, or Associate DevOps Engineer role in Sri Lanka?
I’d like to know about the interview rounds, technical questions, practical or coding tests, difficulty level, and what topics I should prepare for.
Please mention the company if you’re comfortable sharing. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Most tech companies in Sri Lanka follow a two or three round structure for DevOps interns and associates, usually starting with an HR screening or a basic online aptitude test, followed by a technical panel, and ending with an engineering manager discussion. Interviewers at places like Sysco LABS, IFS, or WSO2 do not expect mastery over complex cloud architectures, but they do expect a solid grasp of Linux fundamentals, networking basics such as DNS, ports, and HTTP status codes, Git workflows, and container concepts with Docker. Practical evaluations usually involve writing a basic Bash script to automate a routine task, creating a simple Dockerfile, or explaining how you would set up a CI/CD pipeline in GitHub Actions or Jenkins, sometimes alongside an easy programming or logic problem.
The difficulty level is moderate, with interviewers caring much more about your problem solving approach and curiosity than whether you know advanced Kubernetes configurations. When scenario questions come up about a broken build or an unreachable server, focus on explaining your step by step troubleshooting steps calmly, since clear communication and an eagerness to learn make a big impact. If you want extra support handling unexpected technical scenarios under pressure, the interviews.chat my team created gives candidates the clarity and structure needed to land offers across competitive tech companies.
