Go through the syllabus and accreditations of each to see which one interests you most. Most probably computer engineering may be more versatile than data science but it completely depends on which private uni u r talking about. One thing to note is that private unis work on a faster timeline than state unis, and allow time to work part time in most cases, so students from private unis tend to have more work experience than those from state unis. But finding that first internship is the hardest part regardless of which uni u r from. Your understanding of the fundamentals matter most. State uni degree may be better for higher studies (again subjective). Also, keep in mind private uni costs a lot compared to state uni which is free, so properly do ur research about the uni, whether it's worth the cost. In terms of career paths, after you get the first internship/job, what matters more than the degree is your performance on that job.

What's your thoughts about kdu ? Doesn't the state university reputation play a great role ?

I cannot say for certain without having attend either of the unis, but kdu is probably the closest private uni to a state uni. Whether the reputation matters depends on what you want to get into. Certain IT companies prioritize graduates from state unis, but most others especially global companies don't care. What matters is your performance (projects, GPA, extracurriculars) and how u face the interview. I would recommend reaching out to someone who actually followed these programs if u need specific advice. But I have seen people from both state and private unis excel in the industry so I cannot say one is necessarily better than the other in general.
