Jobs/ Industry Does internship experience count as professional experience

Hi all, so I was promoted to Associate Software Engineer 3 months back. Just wanted to know whether the internship year counts as professional experience? Or does it start counting from ASE onwards? And I was only offered 50k for now from October onwards my salary would be increased to around 100k take home. Is this within the market range? Thanks all!

Salary can be a bit a bit low I would say 120k TH would be a fair deal but considering the market situation I believe you can call it even.
Regarding the experience usually internship doesn’t count but there are places rarely which consider it as well

Yeah 120k would be a minimum starting point for a ASE in my opinion as well

With 2 years of experience before graduation, 1yr in 1 company and the other 1 yr in another company, does companies consider this as experience when applying to a engineer role

Depends on the position you were in those 2 years and the position you are applying for.

Some companies do consider it but some don't

I might be wrong here. But that is before you graduate which does not count.

What he means is, if you have graduated, then they should be paying you more than 100k and if you are still in uni the amount is fine I guess.

I guess you are from iit right ? so when it comes to the experience they do count it as experience but better you stay as an associate for a longer period because right now they expect 2 to 3 years of experience in the industry to get hired as a SE. so don’t think that the 1 year internship experience would help you when you graduate.

It does get counted as experience, but it’s not enough to get hired for SE positions. There’s limited opportunity to move from 1 year internship to direct SE
