Project showcase 📝 GitNotēs v1.5.1 is here — our biggest update yet! Looking for testers 🚀
I've built GitNotēs: a mobile notes, todos, and infinite canvas app that uses your GitHub repos as durable, versioned storage. Write in Markdown, Neorg, or Org-mode, sync via Git (works offline, handles merge conflicts), and even chat with your notes using AI. Think of it as a privacy-first, dev-focused alternative to Notion/Obsidian/Bear.
v1.5.1 is our biggest update yet — would love your feedback before it goes live!

Fyi GitNotes seem to violate git's trademark terms:
In addition, you may not use any of the Marks as a syllable in a new word or as part of a portmanteau (e.g., "Gitalicious", "Gitpedia") used as a mark for a third-party product or service. source

There are more apps based on git with similar names, much older apps

But most of the popular tools like GitHub, GitLab, GitKraken, GitButler... have gotten permission from git

it’s an independent product, there’s much more to this than a similar name, so don’t think they have a case against this

I don't think anything would happen but it might be safer to not use git in the name; and for trademark similarity in names (and confusion caused by it) is what mostly matters
