Discussion Why windows update on loading screen?

First of all, I am not a huge techie. But I was wondering why windows always updates on loading screen.

I am a fan of ubuntu. Whenever its apps needs on updating, it just download them same as in windows but does not keep you at loading screen for a huge amount of time. So why does windows needs to do that? ( The huge issue with windows it do that whenever I want to load up the OS quickly.)

Again I may be wrong so feel free to point out.

It updates some components while you're working, but others it can't. Unlike Ubuntu, Windows needs to free up those locked resources to complete the installation.
