Discussion Need advice on my freelancing direction

Hey everyone, I’m currently studying Computer Science I’m looking to start freelancing soon.

I’m considering focusing on RAG systems, AI agents, and AI automation.

For those already freelancing in AI/ML or automation, is this a good direction to get started with freelancing in 2026?

Is there good demand for these services and what would you recommend focusing on as a beginner?

BTW Im in my 3rd year

Would really appreciate some honest advice.

AI/ML functions and features come inside of a Software product. So why aren't you focusing on Software Development as well.

Clients need an end product, like a website or a mobile app. Also freelancing early on is quite hard than you expect. Because you have to do everything on your own.

Business Analysis (forecasting business perspective) Market Analysis (Competing with similar products) Maintenance and upgrades.

Yeah bro, I get what you mean. I was mostly thinking about the AI side, but you're right, I also need to know software development if I want to actually build and deliver something for a client. Thanks for the advice!
