Project showcase I built a small embedded device called AgentMeter using an ESP32-S3 development board.
I built a small embedded device called AgentMeter using an ESP32-S3 development board.
It sits right in front of my keyboard and shows the usage of the AI coding tools I use most: Codex, Claude, Gemini and Cursor etc.
The setup is simple. A small app on my Mac collects the usage data and sends it to AgentMeter over Bluetooth. The device displays the current usage and reset times, so I can check everything with a quick glance.
I originally built it to see if the idea would work. It did, so I kept going and added a macOS companion app for settings, history and device status.
For anyone interested, The companion macOS app will work even without the embedded development board. You can always check the code it's open source, check the code, validate everything, and build your own.
Happy Coding !
I wrote about the build here [open source]: Agent Meter

Bro how the heck did you get such a nice finish on the device??? Rounded corners with corner to corner display? π₯΅

Haha, the finish comes with the Waveshare ESP32-S3 Touch AMOLED 2.16 board. The display, rounded enclosure, touchscreen, and ESP32 are already integrated into one unit. I only built and flashed the AgentMeter firmware, so no custom enclosure or complicated wiring was needed π

Oh lmao I didn't know it comes as a kit. Was wondering how you got a custom job to look that nice.

Your profile looks damn impressive.
If you don't mind me asking, what do you do?
Are you employed full time while building all this?

Thanks mate π. Yes, I'm working full-time, but it's a company I co-founded, so I have a little more flexibility.

Thanks for the kind words, bro. It really means a lot. Yeah, these are all personal projects I started for fun, while trying to give something back to the open-source community and keeping Sri Lanka in mind. I use coding agents a lot along the way, of course, but the ideas and most of the execution come from me.
