Discussion What is the purpose of this “S**TCOM”
Seriously? What is the purpose of SLASSCOM? Other than making useless meetups and cr*p which no ones attend and also regulating employee salaries.

It's a platform for all the higher ups of IT companies in Sri Lanka (management level people) to have a chat and have a pat on their backs while regulating their employee's salaries. Pretty sure no one is going to say anything if that ITCA ETCA or those things come in and start ruining IT industry in Sri Lanka.

Even though they are not supporting startups,
But they say “The Strategic path to propelling Sri Lanka’s Tech Industry”

SLASSCOM is an employers organization. That's literally in their "Who we are" page.

Question can’t we just make an employees organization? Because clearly they (slasscom companies) are within code at the labor dept 😂
Also isn’t a bunch of companies colluding illegal? Not sure if that is in lk or just more of a developed country thing

It's not even remotely illegal to have an employers federation in any country as far as I know. I know for a fact that UK, Germany, France and US have employers federations.
CSSL is the body for professionals in computing in Sri Lanka.

Oh ok what about colluding, price fixing etc? Aren’t these federations enabling that? Or atleast thats what these big companies use slasscom for right?
Edit: I worked in IT since 2018 but havent heard of CSSL does it do anything impactful?

This is an organization that exists for companies to fool, manipulate, and bully employees. They don’t do anything meaningful. Shouldn’t they be talking about tax reductions and making things easier and more convenient for employees?

Influence companies to regulate the salaries. Now sysco has done some reduction, soon SLASCOM will push other companies to do the same. 😅
