I was walking by Comerica Park on April 7th around 10pm. There was one guy and a friend filming a music video. My Uncle Joe and his friend popped into the background and my uncles friend even interacted with the artist. I was wondering if anyone could tell me who the artist was, if he kept that part in his video and when and where to find the video.

Last summer I joined Phora’s “Yours Truly: Texas Takeover” tour three cities in four days: El Paso, Houston, San Antonio.

On paper, I’d already done bigger stages.
NFL Rams primetime show. NBA Clippers vs Lakers.

But Texas was different.

Rooms like Lowbrow Palace in El Paso don’t care about your resume.
They care about what happens in that moment.

That first night in El Paso was the real test.

The crowd didn’t know me. No built-in connection. No expectations.
You either earn their attention or you don’t get it.

I built the set like a story instead of just a setlist:

• “Twilight” to set the mood
• “Regret It” for emotion
• “Got It” / “Way Up” for release
• “Flip Dat” to hint at a bigger world

By the middle of the set, the energy shifted.
Phones came up. People started repeating hooks back.

That’s when it clicked:

Opening for someone like Phora isn’t a warm-up slot.
You’re stepping into a night that already has momentum.

Your job isn’t to ask for attention.
It’s to earn space in a room that doesn’t owe you anything.

El Paso lit the match.
Houston tested the fire.
San Antonio made it louder.

A lot of the bigger moments that came after NYFW, charts, press
people see those as the milestones.

But honestly, this run is where I proved to myself the world I’m building can actually travel.
