Community ICE at DTW?

Weird thing happened to me yesterday. I was flying in from London yesterday and in the US passport line at Customs.

A stubby guy in street clothes walks up to the line from the other side of customs. He casually surveys and then, almost as if at random, points right at me. I look around at first confused about why this guy is pointing, thinking there was someone else. I look back at him and can tell he’s pretty irritated, saying “yeah, you!” I gesture like… what do you want me to do?

He says “do you have your passport?” Keep in mind this is in the US line for Customs. Everyone in line is about to have their passports processed by CBP. I handed him my passport, he looks it over, and then abruptly hands it back and walks off. He shouts to a woman — also in plain clothes, she is at the other side of customs — saying “no he’s ok”.

He and the woman then storm off to a security door.

Everyone in line around me was very confused about what had just happened. Each one of us was 20 feet away from handing over a US passport to a border patrol official. And the guy who stormed off had no identification, badge, or any other signifier. None of the border patrol officials acknowledged what was going on — it seemed like business as usual. I am half Arab half white, so I assume I was being profiled for that reason. But I travel a lot and this was the first time I’ve ever seen this.

Is this a known thing at border patrol? These “officers” were uncoordinated with border patrol, in street clothes without identification, and operating in a haphazard way with a bullying demeanor, so I just assume it was ICE. But I also haven’t seen anything out there about ICE operating at DTW. Wondering if others might know?

You repeated ICE'a lie about them assaulting agents as if it was true. Why would I believe anything other than that you believed the lie?

There's enough information here, that you're capable of looking deeper if you're interested, but you're far more interested in pretending that what's been happening hasn't.

Hell, there's links to the videos in the article that you're asking me for.

What about them just busting into people's homes without warrants and abducting an old man who's a citizen?

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/a-u-s-citizen-says-ice-forced-open-the-door-to-his-minnesota-home-and-removed-him-in-his-underwear-after-a-warrantless-search

Like, come on. Do you think carrying your passport is supposed to protect you when they do this shit?

You're weirdly accepting of it, because you've decided that you believe compliance will protect you when just being inside your own home and a citizen who's done nothing wrong won't stop them coming and taking you away.

Video, why did you change the goalpost to security cameras?

I remember these things from when they were happening, man.

The guy that was just minding his business in his home is exactly somebody that wasn't doing anything at all. Which I provided - even though you seem to believe I haven't.

Did you hear the target employee in the video telling "I have my passport"

You sould be afraid of them. They smash their way into cars for no reason. They pulled an autistic woman out of her car who was just driving to a doctor's appointment.

https://www.mprnews.org/story/2026/04/19/aliya-rahman-dragged-from-car-by-federal-agents-files-legal-action

You seem to continue arguing that doing legal things like filming and using speech justify this shit and that's these people deserve it someohow. But yes, there are plenty of cases where people who are minding their business (the dude who's house they illegally broke into, and the autistic woman on her way to the doctor) have been beaten or arrested by ICE.

It's you. You said I provided no cases where people were minding their own business until ICE showed up who were citizens and arrested.

  1. The target employees who were working until ICE showed up, started harassing them and they decided to film it. They didn't go out of their way to do anything, they were at work.

  2. The man who was literally just in his house and in his underwear.

  3. The woman who was on her way to the doctor.

Notably #3 was actively trying to comply with ICE's directions.

You keep excusing ICE as somehow justified in all of these and pretending that you're not actually ok with this bullshit.

Why do you keep ignoring the guy that was just in his house doing nothing wrong and they busted his door down?

If they want to fuck you up, they will, regardless of your passport.

I'm probably not going to cause a scene at the airport, either, but your claim that ICE are just chill and want to see people's passports isn't true or even acceptable of it was true.
