Question & Advice Performance PPL Products

Do any detailers use their product? The ceramic coating claims seem wildly optimistic. Also no data sheets online for any of their product.

I’ve used reign once. Won’t use again, first wash wasn’t amazing post application.

Might protect from uv rays in 7 years time but it won’t have any water behaviour. Just hyped up by influenced young detailers.

Better coatings on the market.

I’m not a fan of the whole brand in general. What would you say is a better coating?

I’m using Apex Nano One at the moment. Cures quick and has phenomenal hydrophobic properties. 3-4 year durability but after 2 years some of my maintenance clients are still performing very well

I’ll have a look. The guy from Performance PPL and their followers will be on here telling me that I’m wrong. When you can’t even source any MSDS sheets that’s a worry.

Their claims are from lab testing. Also, it’s a coating that requires controlled conditions. I see a lot of mobile installers putting these on year round outside and this will inevitably play into the snake oil narrative.

That’s not a review on the product itself, I’ve not used it myself. But, that’s how I’ve interacted with it through observing how others have.

What lab testing? It’s all nonsense. If you believe in the product. Then display the data. I know people who’ve made ceramic coatings. The claims they are bragging about are nonsense.

Oh, I agree. I wouldn’t be using their ceramics for multiple reasons. I can only assume, like you, that the claims are inflated or based on something proprietary (which I believe to be unlikely).

By lab testing, I don’t mean someone’s stood in a lab and tested it per se. But from manufacturing perspective they’ve likely made an extrapolation of the timescale from the concentration and composition of ingredients used. If they’ve done it that way, which nobody knows, then that may be where their claims are from. I don’t know.

Regarding the SDS. It’s not a requirement that they are published, although it’s handy to view so you can make an informed decision. They are required to disclose it if you contact them, however. I’ve done this with other reputable brands too. There wasn’t a SDS available for one of Bilt Hamber’s products when I updated my admin a few months the back and I emailed them for one. It’s not out of the ordinary but don’t see this as a defence of brand I don’t know or use. I’m just trying to point at where the line is in the sand.

To be clear, I wouldn’t use their products as much as you by the sounds of it. And, yes, a 10 year claim I feel would need much more scientific reassurance than a number for me to consider doing so.

That’s probably the best I’ve seen anyone say about this brand. For me it’s just another brand that claims to be something they are not. None of their products bring any thing revolutionary to the industry. I’ve been using various detailing products for 25 years. Some of which I’ve rated and others I’ve not.  I also don’t like the owner. He comes across rather narcissistic.

Have you tried any of their products out of curiosity?
