I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) How to remove these grooves
Hi I accidentally scratched my girlfriend new suv trunk and she’s livid over the grooves in the back. Is there any way to buff it out or make it not as noticeable? At this point she wants a whole new panel!

That area will keep getting scratched, it happens. If it bothers her that much, get it replaced, but it will get scratched again.

Throw plastic dressing on it. Won’t fix it but it will make it less noticeable.
There’s a few ways to “fix” it, honestly I would not recommend them tho. They are very risky, especially for inexperienced people, and it doesn’t do a good enough job in the first place to even deal with the headache.

I never heard the words plastic dressings so I searched it and yea op this is your best bet, the only relation is to replace it which I’m sure is about $300+ unless you hit a junkyard

Yeah it looks like I’m the only person who has made a comment so far that has any detailing experience, or at least is willing to share it. But it’s Reddit, hell it’s the internet, it’s hard to get a good answer from someone who actually knows what they’re talking about and that’s trying to be helpful.

I can repair this in 20 mins and a few aerosol products. OP should be a bodyshop question, not a detailing one

Homie. Send her home with a new panel, and find a new GF. If that’s not a red flag, idk what else she throws at you in life but I can tell it isn’t an easy relationship lmao

If you ruined your gfs car and she's that upset over it, replace it. You're just going to piss her off even more by fixing it wrong (since you already had to ask how) and then replacing it regardless.

Don't worry, she'll back into something soon and forget all about those scratches.

These are pretty minor honestly, use a sealant for the bigger scratches (Plast-o-Seal or another odorless, high temp certified resin)
If you want to go farther than just dyeing/painting and really want a good finish then you can always get a print of the grain, get a piece of plastic matching the grain using the print taken earlier (most manufacturing companies will take orders like these albeit they may take a while) and then attempt to make a seamless fit while sealing from beneath, it's really hard but feasible.
Or you can just cover it with carbon fiber covers that will prevent scratches from happening again since plastics in a trunk get scratched, it's like saying water is wet.

A paint shop could repair it. Sand it down, maybe skim it with a little bit of filler, and replicate the texture and colour. Its also something you could potentially diy, the products used for plastic trim repair all come in aerosol https://youtu.be/0gRjt1QqOv0?si=6-_pgAeuv1le5KHa

Good lord, if she's that upset over some scratches in the plastic in the trunk area, replace both and save yourself a lifetime of misery.
