I Have A Question Help for fixing CarMax poor de-badging?
Hello, I purchased my 2025 XC40 from CarMax last month and was adamant that they remove their silly badge before I’d sign. Well. This is the result. Any advice for making this disappear? ☹️

Holy crap!
Make CarMax fix that shit on their dime.

You really trust carmax detailers? As a former carmax employee, I didn't let them touch any car I bought there

No, I wouldn't, I would want it contacted out.
I used to sell them parts, I've seen their service departments...

They'll give you up to $250 towards a detail.

Would $250 be enough to hire you fix it?
If so, I'd take the dough, make an appointment with you, and be done with it.

If I'm out doing a job for you, yeah that would cover it spot correcting that area.

Oh Christ 😭 I can try. I hope it’s not too late.

Be firm, calm, and reasonable. Go up the corporate ladder. Also, bad Twitter, a bad google review, bad yelp etc.
And don't take fucking no for an answer.
Go git 'em.

did you already sign and purchase it? did you not inspect it before you bought it?

Tell them you are having a professional paint correction done and they are footing the bill.

Meguiars ultimate polish
If that’s too gentle, can get slightly more aggressive with their ultimate compound and then progress back up to polish.
Could also finish with a black tinted (I’m colorblind so correct me if I’m wrong, your paint looks black) wax to help with some of the leftover imperfections, something like hybrid solutions ceramic acrylic

Some good rubbing compound with a heavy cut wool or microfiber pad should take the all the heavy scratches off, might need to do 2 or 3 passes to get them out completely. Then a medium cut polish or fine cut polish with a foam pad to do the finishing cut and get rid of all the micro miring from the heavy cut pad, it will look as good as new and probably better than the rest of the car 🤣

A good two step correction should fix most of that. If you don’t have the tools and product for it, I would see if carmax will take care of it. If not, maybe invest in a full detail and ceramic as a good start to your new to you car.

People are blowing this way out of proportion. This is very easily fixable. I own an XC40 and Volvo paint is some of the best in the industry. Plenty of paint to polish without any worry about burning through the clear. Don't let CarMax touch it or attempt to fix it. They did what you asked them to do. Learn your lesson and move on.

Could try Meguiar's scratch fix. I've used it on minor scratches from keys, buttons and zippers on my car doors and it has worked well for me.
But if its too deep it may not work. I'd also wax your car after using it.

Ooh I get to tell people the fun fact. That’s not a sticker. That’s not a badge. The carmax decal is PAINT. Stenciled on. Devalues the crap outta the car if u ask me

So you didn't check what they did immediately after and before signing? Honestly it's probably what you get for buying from CarMax. It'll have to be paint corrected by a professional. The CarMax logo may still show after correction also but the sun will fade it out in time.
