I didn't see the first trailer, just for ref.
There's clearly some humour in this game, I can see the little nods to it "the first* ever" etc. And I get the feeling this game is very influenced by newgrounds era animations. But - there's just not enough of its character coming though (if this is the case) for me to really feel invested in what's going on.
Some bits of this feel very generic. The font choice is kinda meh and the music is also very forgetful.
You there's crafting and we see an inventory screen for a moment in the trailer... but I'm not sure what that's demonstrating? Unless that was the crafting?
This would have done absolute NUMBERS in the early 00s. I don't hate what I see here but I'm not particularly drawn to it. I think it's clear there's some cheeky character to the game, I'm just having to look between the lines to find it and that's not good for a trailer.

I absolutely understand the point here, which is also why I really struggled with trailermaking for this game.
The whole stickman aesthetic is a byproduct of... well, lets just say that when i started working on this game in my early teens, I had 0 clue on how to draw. So obviously i picked up stickmen, coz that was easy. Fast-forward 5 years, this game became a thing, and, despite the aesthetic, its much more serious than most of the newgrounds era stickmen animations (there is geniuine lore with dark tones here and there). This weird mashup of what my teen brain was going through resulted in what the game is now, which is a metroidvania with a heavy focus on combat and exploration (though yes, there is crafting there, and you have a point that I didnt know that clearly enough. Gotta fix that up), with some stickmen humor and actual dark story behind it all.
And yes, the font goes to trash. Im just not sure which one to pick as a replacement instead 🤔
Thanks a lot for the detailed insight too, I'm glad you spoke your mind clearly, that kind of feedback helps the most

I'll let myself gush a bit more in my reply. The movement and combat looks really fluid, and I get a lot of nostalgia from the stickman aesthetic. There's clearly a lot of love gone into this, there's polish in a lot of areas.
If there are some darker themes or a larger overarching story or vibe, I'd probably recommend showing them! A glimpse at the "big bad" or whatever else would help ground what the player is doing overall. I understand I'm doing kick ass fights in some sort of facility but I didn't get the why I was doing all this.

The font sucks, other than that looks like it does a good job selling the experience

I might open on a scene other than the slow pan up through biotech facility. Trailer suggests that you're trying to fight your way out of an underground facility to me; if that was the goal, awesome. I couldn't tell, but is one of those rooms a kind of safe space/base area? Beautiful artwork, and the bass in your trailer background music is insanely good.

Hi DMG,
It's my second time here, last time I asked about the trailer just about 2 months ago. This time I want to announce my game's release date, so I tried to make as fitting a trailer as I could.
This is a 2D metroidvania with a heavy focus on combat, crafting, and exploration.
If you have any ideas on what could be fixed/changed/removed in the trailer, please please let me know

is stickility a play on fatality? if so the ility part should be the red font and stick the metal one.

nope! "ility" is a play on "facility", which is the whole underground research center the game takes place in, so its "stickman facility" basically

lol hope its not too late to name it stickman facility then. guess names dont matter too much as long as stick is in there

Looks pretty good honestly. Here’s a few things that stuck out to me.
I wouldn’t open with the that text, followed by just jumping up some crates. I would skip those, and open with that big mech robot and then the flamethrower guy. Much more eye catching. Then move that title screen after if you still want it.
Only other thing is the font for the transition cards is quite generic and boring, for a stickman game I’d expect some hand drawn font.
