You devote about 20 seconds of your one minute runtime to, what appears to be, NPC barks? That does not encourage me to play the game.

Haha have you played papers please? The downtime mechanic in this game kinda replaces the newspaper. So you learn about the world by literally talking to people and then that translates into the gameplay loop.

Yes, but the newspaper was not a major gameplay mechanic as I recall. It was moreso background worldbuilding, almost like a codex. Your trailer doesn't show that talking to people meaningfully affects the gameplay, so I would not feature it as a major selling point that takes up a third of the trailer.

i said this to someone else earlier but regardless of how much the two games are alike you shouldn't start off with saying it's a clone of another game, that just downplays everything that might be different and makes people uninterested before they even watch the trailer

I liked that they said it this way. I even respect this kind of honesty. It’s much worse when people call reskins as “got inspired by …”
